For small departments and/or individuals that want a good digital camera and yet be able to attach zoom lens at an affordable price. The D40, 6.1 pixel, depending on where you go buy it, a complete kit could cost under $700.00 or the D40x, 10 pixel, for under $1000.00 for the kit or if the individual already has Nikon lens they can find the body of the D40x for under $900.00

Great camera, little advanced for the beginner photographer. Has many options, that I just dont use. Great for crimescene work. You can change the lens on this camera. Takes excellent pictures. Love the SLR style digital cameras.

Great camera! Expensive, but well worth the picture quality it produces. Would purchase again.

I have the Nikon D50 (the model before this) and absolutely love it! It is an easy camera to carry in a case and the shots it takes even on all auto are amazing. Guaranteed a great picture every time.

excellent photos.... relatively inexpensive for a digital SLR. Takes all Nikon lenses. Battery last for a long time with limited number of charges. Good for both static crime scenes or surviellance with the proper lens. Excellent for driveby to get search warrant descriptions.... one handed operation with minor change in settings. Only problem, not too rugged.

Want it, want it, want it.. Being a Photographer, in a Camera Store, I'm like a kid in a candy store.. I WILL add this or one like it to my collection.
