I have carried this knife on and off for about 3 years. It goes on your inner belt and under your duty belt on your support side. Small enough you cant tell that its there. The holster has a slight retention also. Knife holds a great edge. Hopefully never have to use it for its intended purpose but nice to know its there if you need it.

I carried this knife for two years while in the patrol bureau. I loved it. No one even noticed it on my belt. I (thankfully) never had to use it for it's intended purpose, but by holding the knife you can tell it is well made and would withstand quite a bit of punishment.

My husband has this and I am relieved he does. I (like him) am thankful he has not had to use to, however better to have it and not use it then not have it & need it.

A great tool to keep on your belt. Hides easily behind your radio or other equipment and is easily unsheathed to ward off any attackers that might be trying to disarm an officer. If you get ambushed, this is a great tool to counter that ambush.

Awesome knife. I recommend the smaller version, as the large version tends to sit on the hip bone uncomfortably while seated in a vehicle.

This is a very well made knife. Very heavy blade will hold its edge through a lot of punishment. I have carried this knife for about 8 months and I love it.

Good knife, I carry this one mostly in colder weather when I wear two shirts. Ka-Bar now makes a metal clip that attaches to the sheath for more carry option. Overall, good knife.

I love this knife and have been carrying it for over two years since it first came out. The greatest thing about it is no one knows its there where I carry it and it is out in the open. I can get to it in a hurry and god help the dirtbag who trys to go for my gun.

Great knife for its intended purpose, "life" insurance. I don't use it for daily functions, I keep it to save my life. I will restate rrussell1981's comment, that the sheath has "slight" retention. You need to check it periodically, so u don't find it on your Crown Vic's rocker panel, like I have done in the past. I carry it everyday and for light off duty protection when I cant carry a gun.

I have employed the use of the TDI on time since purchasing it nearly two years ago. I was caught off guard and the guy who surprised me from behind nearly pooped his pants when I had it against his abdomen. This is one of my best tools I have owned in 18 years as a LEO.

Good knife but in my opinion it is too easily drawn from the sheath. I wore it on my inner belt for a few months and was concerned that it could be too easily drawn by a bad guy. All other weapons on my duty belt have some sort of release that one must depress before the weapon can be drawn, thus I don't feel uncomfortable going hands on and mixing it up with an AP even if his hands make it to my waist. I know that it is going to take some focused attention on his part to draw that weapon, something which I do not plan on allowing him time to do. But, this sheath has no tricks...just pull and the knife is out very easily. And, it is not quite so obscure as some people think it is. Other officers immediately saw it on my belt, despite the fact I placed it in the most inconspicuous place possible on my rig. Officers were not the only one's that noticed either...some AP's also saw it and commented. Thus, I moved it to an ankle holster and carried it there for a few months until I got into a foot chase that ended in a brief altercation at the end of which I was disturbed to see that my k-bar had fallen out of the holster and was lying on the ground right next to the bad guy. I like the knife but I cannot and will not trust that sheath. Very dissapointing

This is a MUST for LEO's. Its a great little "gun retention" tool and an awesome back up when things go bad at close quarters. Its barely visible yet easy to access, I've been wearing one for years. They make a nice training version too, and its all VERY inexpensive.

Sharpens easily and holds a good edge. It fits securely in the hand, and it is easily concealed. Much more practical as a last resort defense weapon than a folder. Officers can immediately put it into action without having to worry about opening the blade and locking it in place.

In the heat of a life and death battle, most of us can only count on gross motor skills. Opening a folding knife to employ during a struggle is risky at best. The TDI/Kabar really fills this gap nicely, being "always on" and ready to go. Grab, slice and dice, survive. I would like to see slightly wider belt loop hole on the holster and an adjustable tension for draw stroke. Otherwise I've been carrying one for about a year and a half with no problems.

The way this knife is deployed reduces its overall versatility. It takes too much "getting used to". I find traditional straight blades to be easier to deploy with less training. Think about your kitchen knives. Do any of them look like this? Fixed or folder, straight blades are far easier to use.

I love this knife. I carry it on my BDU belt, behind my mag holder. I also carry it off duty with the inside the waist clip. I think if you're looking for a defense knife, this is it. It can be drawn in under 0.90 sec. Try to do that with a folding knife thats clipped in your pocket. If you are interested go to youtube.com and type in Kabar TDI knife and there is a great demo video.

I recently bought this knife, I have to say it is barely visible and it is a tough knife. I'd hate to be on the recieving end of this knife when it gets used. I am a knife freak especially when I am working, I have seen too many times where officers get hurt or even killed by not having enough equipment.
