| Description: | The Dodge Charger police vehicle was designed from the ground up in order to meet the needs of law enforcement agencies. Police-specific features include greater stability and improved handling achieved through a “wheels-to-the-corners” design; performance-tuned steering and suspension; convenient shifter mounted on the instrument panel to make room for police equipment in the center console area; police interior lighting shines white to illuminate the interior and red for use with night vision equipment; heavy-duty seats accommodate fully equipped officers; and a spacious trunk. |

I was assigned a 2009 with 11 miles on it. The fit and finish of these cars is great! I disagree with the above comment (in "Details") about the trunk space. Compared to my old Crown Vic I'd say it's a little bigger than a Crown Vic's glove box. I'd be much happier with this vehicle if it had the Hemi but command staff here has decided they aren't necessary. The brakes are awesome... the handling is head and shoulders above the the Crown Vic. Interior is a bit cramped and doesn't accomodate the MDT as well as the Crown Vics. Overall I'd put the V6 version of the Charger just a tad bit above the Crown Vic w/ the Interceptor package. There are times when you need to get up and go from a dead stop and the V6 Charger is a bit of a let down as it just doesn't seem to have the torque.

I love this car...if I could figure out how to get the lights to stay off even if I unlock it with the key fob and how to lock the vehicle while its running, I would be set.

I know a couple departments looking to trade out their new Chargers for Crown Vics. They seem to have some trouble with the LED packages that come pre-installed from Dodge.
They also do not hold up as tough as the Crown Vic to heavy patrol use. That is what we have found so far on our local roads.
