The TK-2180 is our department-issue and is an improvement in every way over the TK-290. Increased capacity (512 channels), an expanded LCD display (Thank You!), increased Operator Selectable Tone capacity (40 programmable presets), more programmable buttons, a tighter design, a longer-lasting battery and better associated programming software (KPG-89D) all combine to make this an excellent choice. Love it!

Reliable. That is this radio's strong point. My 2180 has been smashed up against walls, been through downpours and snowfalls, been dropped, and been exposed to lots of fine dust particles and dirt. Yet the radio keeps coming back for more. Depending on the your department's range and strength and where you are located when dispatching, this radio's clarity is excellent. Great radio...

I use the TK-3180 at work, actually it's what most of us are issued. I've never had any problems with it....yet!
