You would think that all the built in features for this weapon would make it a picky shooter, but in 8 years of carry I have found it to be absolutely reliable with all sorts of ammo. Standard carry load is 230 Grain Gold Dots; however it will function just fine with Hydra Shoks, ball and lead round nose flat points, RNs, and copper jacketed types just as well. The aluminum frame and stainless slide are a good lightweight combination for all day concealed carry with an offside mag. pouch. I use a Galco Concealable set up with several widths of belts all Galco's or Wilderness Instructor Belts with no problems. I wondered if I would experience clothing wear problems on the weapon carry side due to the sharp edges rubbing on covers; however Kimber does a good job of dehorning the weapon and in 8 years of carry it has not been a problem of any consequence. Shooting the weapon even with full power loads is not an issue and I have found that when practicing my drills on double and triple taps control of the weapon for fast follow up shots is never a problem. All in all, I have been extremely satisfied with this weapon; it has performed up to my specification and then some!

I had a few years back and found it a joy to carry. In anticipation of doing some compettive shooting I sold it....Never sell a gun.... because it has an aluminum frame.
I miss it as it was one of the best looking, best shooting and best feeling guns that I have owned.
Highly reccomended!- Flag as inappropriate

I have owned 10 Kimbers, and still have 4, and I have never had one jam or misfire. They are tight guns, and yes, they need to be kept clean and lubed. So? This particular gun is probably my favorite--I made extra thin grips for mine, and I love how it feels. Nearly everyone who picks the gun up gets an unmistakable smile on their face. It is very accurate, reliable, and just plain feels right.
