The P229R DAK™ is the standard pistol of the Dept. of Homeland Security and the U.S. Coast Guard who selected the P229 after a 3 million round grueling torture test. The P229R offers compact size, choice in firepower of 9mm, .357 SIG or .40 S&W, tactical versatility of a Picatinny rail, double-action only and the unbeatable performance that only comes from SIG SAUER® all in one package. Developed by the renowned engineers at Sauer for the SIG SAUER® pistols, the new DAK™ trigger system delivers a safe, reliable and consistent 6.5 pound double-action only trigger pull. The DAK™ also features double-strike capability. SIG SAUER® DAK™ pistols also disassemble without the need to pull the trigger - simply lock the slide back and remove the magazine to disassemble like other SIG pistols. I carry this weapon in .40 S&W and also have a .357 sig barrel that I switch to occassionally. This weapon is extremely accurate, very durable and very reliable. An overall exceptional duty weapon!

Have yet to fire this weapon but if it is anything else like it's entire line, it will be a winner. I currently carry two Sigs: 220 and 226.

I originally bought this weapon after a reccomendation from a local deputy. I was skeptical because I was using a Glock 22. After I fired this pistol, I fell in love with how it feels in my hand and how quick of a draw I get when I need to.

Like all the Sigs I've owned, this one is great. I've been carrying this one in 2 tone for a few months now and I highly recommend it. The DAK trigger is exceptionally smooth. Thumbs up from me.

I have had a sig for 16 + years and they are of the finest quality. I am not a fan of the DAK, I miss my 226 double/single. The DAK trigger is way to long,,,,,,

I have carried a Sig 229 in 9m/m, .40 cal and .357 Sig over the last 5yrs and have nothing but praise for off duty applications. My latest is a DAK in .40cal.

My father just bought this weapon in a 40 caliber. all i can say is, this is a spectacular weapon. Extremely smooth all the way through. DAK trigger is a fantastic feature. very easy to disassemble for cleaning. light enough to feel comfortable in your hand, but heavy enough to reduce recoil. I have fired this weapon immediately after firing a Glock 40 cal. and there is no competition, Sig wins hands down on accuracy and weapon control. Highly recommended!

This gun is small and easy to hide. I am not a fan of the >40 cal but this gun shoots as well as a Glock out of the box. They are light but feel like they will break in your hand. Overall it is a good gun I only carried one for ten months but no real complaints.

I accidentally set up another product, because the search tool did not find this one. You've gotta love the simplicity. You pull the trigger - it goes bang, every time.

Great Gun! I bought one this week in.357 sig. It is deadly accurate. My buddy had one in the SA/DA. I like the DAK much more. Only one trigger pull to learn. I got the LaserMax for as well. Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best handgun I have ever fired. Trigger is super smooth. I was able to place an entire 13 round mag of head shots from the 10 yard line. Gave the gun to my buddy and he did the same. I'm glad we are switching to this reliable gun as a duty weapon.

Accurate, reliable and comfortable in the hand, especially with Hogue rubber grips though the standard grips are very nice as well. High quality product=high degree of confidence.

I have owned quite a few Sigs, and I like the 229 DAK the best! Sweet trigger, and carries nicely. My off-duty carry is P229 DAK in 9mm. I really love this gun! Sleek, reliable, and, accurate. Go Sig, and you'll be glad you did.

Been carrying this weapon as our issued duty weapon for approximately 3 years, no problems, love it. Was using the Insight M3x tactical light, fit perfectly on the picatanny rails. Just purchased the new Insight Procyon and I've encountered my first problem. The accessory rails of this weapon have a rounded bottom, as opposed to a flat bottom. This makes the installation of the Insight Procyon very difficult, or near impossible to install as the latch bar does not clear the rounded bottom portion of the rails. The only way to get it on and off is too loosen the rail screws on the light inself. Anyway, I plan on inquiring about the issue with Insight to see if they have a simple solution, if not, I'll probably dremel/grind the latch bar down a bit and see if that works.

This weapon is a great service weapon. Its very dependable. On the downside is very prone to scratching and dings due to everyday use.

    New dept. issue.

Good: X's all day long right out the box....

Bad: Very poor grips / workmanship! Question for Sig management; WTF Over????

Its a great weapon, but I still want my GLOCK 22.....

I have the P229R in 9mm and love the way it shoots. I've shot in a several IDPA matches.

It is accurate and groups really tight. The only custom work was a spring replacement.

The only complaint is it's heavy and a little bulking for everyday concealed carry, especially using an IWB holster.

I own the SAS P229 (Sig's custom). This is the Air Marshal's duty weapon. Sig Anti Snag. DAO 40 cal. Frt. tritium sight. Trigger is like butter! Bought it, won't ever sell it!

The duty weapon of choice!!!! .40 cal is the way to go for duty use. I think that the price listed here is a BIT LOW (more like $900.00 to $1,000.00 range) but the department's got the tab so it's cool.
