I don't know much about cars, but I do know this...Chevy Impalas are NOT meant to be police patrol vehicles. The interior is even smaller then the earlier models and that leaves NO room once you get the screen partition, consoles, computer, etc. there is no room for anything else (including officers) The trunk is equally as small. The model our department has also has only one key hole (on the driver's side), the dash lights do not go into "stealth mode" and the rear doors DO NOT lock from the inside! Overall, I would NOT recommend this vehicle to any department. Pay the extra $ and get the Crown Vic...and this is from someone who drives a Chevy for my own POV.

I was just issued a 2009 Impala and I love it. It has plenty of room up front(not much in the back, but who cares they're back there for a reason)and all of my extra gear fits nicely in the trunk. As far as power goes it will eat up a Crown Vic quick and it handles sweet especially at high speed. I traded in my 2007 Crown Vic for this and I am not dissapointed.

We just recieved 8 new Impala's. We have had Ford's for the past 14 years. I really like the Implala for a number of reasons. The Vehicle drives very well and it handles very well. The interior of the vehicle is a lot larger than you would think. I also think the vehicle handles better because it is front wheel drive.

horrible patrol car. it has no room and no "get up and go"! descent gas mileage is the only positive thing i can think about it.

I traded my 2005 Crown Vic for this car and I have not been disappointed. It has plenty of power, corners well, and can stop on a dime. It does not have the interior room that the CV had, but it is not cramped. I've enjoyed this vehicle!

Front wheel drive? Is this not a danger in a high speed pursuit situation? Is rear wheel drive safer?
