Description:

The foundation of the 700 action is its unique bolt design. The bolt face, barrel, and receiver surround and support the cartridge head with three overlapping rings of solid steel. The Model 700 receiver is machined from a solid block of ordnance-grade steel, then drilled and tapped for scope mounts. All our standard Model 700 Police rifles have heavy, free-floating 26" barrels crowned at the muzzle for unparalleled accuracy and stability.

An Outstanding long proven and most utilized police sniper weapon of choise,. I own two, one in .308 and the other in .300 Win Mag for when you really need to reach out there and touch someone. Outstanding trigger, I utilized a badger pic mount, I also had badger place a larger bolt handle on mine. Badger provide's you with a very fast turn around not to mention a LE discount.

This weapon is the absolute best percision rifle I have ever fired. I own a gun store and got 4 of these in to sale to the local PD's. I took their armorer to the range one day with these rifles and fell in love with their accuracy. These rifles, with a cheap scope I keep in my store fired an impressive .3MOA. I couldn't believe it. I did know that they was garranteed to shot no more than 2MOA but this is way short of that. I say that for the money, you can't beat them.

ALTHOUGH I DON'T THIS IN A 308, I HAVE 2 SENDEROS (WHICH IS BASICALLY THE SAME RIFLE ONLY A LONG ACTION). THEY ARE IN 7MM MAG AND 300 ULTRA MAG. BOTH ARE SUPERBLY ACCURATE. THE HEAVINESS OF THESE RIFLES REALLY TAME RECOIL TO THE POINT OF NONEXISTANT. YOU'LL NOT FIND A MORE ACCURATE RIFLE OUT OF THE BOX THAN THE 700.

I have the Remington 700 in The VLS model as a target/recreation rifle. I had it pillared and glass bedded. The barrel free-floated and a slight trigger job. This is the best shooting platform in .308 caliber I have so far had the pleasure to shoulder. Out of the box thought it is still a fine weapon with little recoil because of the weight.

This is one of the best options for police issue sniping/sharpshooting. It is a Mauser 98 knockoff/improvization, and it's essentially a sporting rifle (high power rifle/hunting rifle). The US military uses their own designated version called the M24. This weapon is commonly chambered in .308 Winchester (7.62x51). On the civilian market these rifles are commonly topped with a Leupold Scope. It serves as an excellent Hunting rifle and when chambered in .223 (5.56x45mm) it's ideal for varmits, like foxes and coyote. You can get one chambered for the animal in mind. If I had to use one, I'd go for performance and sacrifice it's wieldiness, I'd go with 20-26" Bull Barrel (bbl) topped with either a powerful Leupold or something like a Zeiss or Steiner, and I'd consider having it chambered for .308 win, 7mm Remington Mag, or go the way of Wittman and use 6mm Remington. Oh, and a bipod would have to be a must.

Watch the throat erosion though. Mine was just sent out for a new barrel. I'm guessing it has something to to with the endless amts. of ammo that have been shot through it.

Simple function and as accurate as your shooting ability can make it. It's rugged and will never fail you. The only thing you need to be worried about being ginger with is the optics. What more do you need? I'm currently a sniper on my tactical so me and my 700 have gotten to know each other very well. It's an excellent weapon...tried and true.

The 700P is a great rifle for the armed professional--from beginning to advanced shooters. Out of the box my .308 Win. rifle easily shot 3/4 MOA with match grade ammo. I bedded mine with Marine-Tex, took the trigger down a bit, and hand lapped the barrel with JB Borebright...shrunk the groups to sub 1/2 MOA. The great thing is that there are numerous gunsmiths that know how to accurize the 700 action that many custom rifles on the 1000 yard line are based on the 700 action. The USMC and US Army base their primary sniper weapon system on the Rem 700 for a good reason...it's accurate, it's reliable and it's relatively easy to maintain.

I own two of these currently one in .223 and one in .308. As has already been said by many others this is the benchmark to which all other precision rifles are compared. Doesn't take much to take it from a great rifle out of the box to a fantastic one. Both of mine can shoot 1/2 m.o.a. 3 round groups if I do my part.

this is the perfect entry into a police tactical/sniper weapon system. Simply stated out of the box will shoot a sub MOA. Even when bore sighted. Several subdivisions exist in this model. If your looking for something to bring to your department, look for the LT, or I believe PPS. Both offer simply the best with slight difference. Even other companies ( ie Accuracy Int.l ) make some of their stock systems around the fundamental components of this weapon system.

The 20" fluted Barrel reduces a lot of weight, and being shoretr helps us in our urban/suburban environment. Carried one for nine years. Once the barrel was shot out a hart barrel, shilen trigger, trued action and a ceramic coat were added. Shoots .25-.5moa at distances when the shooter can. Outstanding bargain for a factory weapon.

Love the rifle...hate the box magazine. If it is a model with the floorplate, I give it a 5 star.

I give this tactical weapon a 5 out of 5. Out of the box one of the most stable, accurate
and reliable weapons, this caliber, system, and platform is a must have for any long range enthusiast, hunter, or tactical operator. With minimal headspace wear, durable barrels, and the amount of tinkering, configuring, and types of hand loads you can do to this rifle, it certainly will get the job done no matter what type of firing you are doing. I personally own one in the SPS stock, with a 20 inch barrel, 1/7 inch twist. Shes shooting a quarter of an inch group at 100 yards with FGMK s, 175 grain. Definitely a must have for any armory!

I own the 700P in a .308 with a Mark 4 4.5x14x40 scope with Mark 4 rings on a picatiny mount and a Harris bipod. Out of the box It is the best, most accuate, bolt action riffle I have ever owned and I have owned Brownings and Rugers. I shoot 1" groups at 100 yards with no tweaking to the riffle with no problem. I would like to test the riffle at further distances but do not have any ranges around that go over 100 yards. I want to buy another 700P in .300 RUM as soon as I can. If you are considering purchsing a 700P definitely go with a tactical scope and mount and a bipod, it is worth the investment. The 700P is worth every penny.

I bought my Remington 700 Police .308 rifle after a West Jordan, Utah police buddy recommended it to me and I am still amazed at its accurracy. Sub-MOA out of the box with a Leopuld V-lll 4.5 x 14 Mil-dot scope which is a perfect scope for this rifle. I could only find one in the whole state of Utah at the time and grabbed it.
Funny, but at a West Jordan Fire and Police Festival, they had one example of the departments Reminton 700 Police on display and it had a rather cheap Tasco scope on it and it just made me laugh a bit. I would have thought that the scope would have been a better one. But this rilfe is so dead on that maybe that Tasco works with it. Hmmmm. I would love to know.
I am not knocking the West Jordan Police in any way-they always are the best!

I own the 20" LTR in 223, topped with a Leupold 3x9 tactical scope. I shoot Blackhills 73 grain BTHP and this combination is deadly accurate! I can place a dime over a three shot group at 100yds. The farthest I have shot this rifle is 550yds, and believe it or not my group measured under 4". I don't consider myself a great shot, but with this rifle the accuracy speaks for itself. I have never owned a rifle as accurate as the 700 POLICE LTR.

This is by far the most accurate and consistent rifle I have fired.

    Side story:

My buddy and I each purchased new sniper rifles. His being the Savage 10 and mine of course being the R700P. After the break-in process, we worked on zeroing, and there was an immediate and noticeable difference. We are both quite capable shooters, but my R700P was grouping at 1/4 MOA and his was just over 1 MOA. Long story short - On the last day of zeroing, he headed to the dealer to purchase his own R700P. Although he still owns the Savage, he does the serious shooting with the R700P.
