I have fired numerous firearms in my past and have to say this is by far my favorite. The accuracy and reliability of this pistol by far surpasses anything I have ever handled. This pistol has never malfunctioned and I have shot this when it was horribly dirty and it still had no problem. I have this firearm in a 9mm, .40 and a 45. There is a reason why this firearm is always on backorder :-)

I have fired more than 500 rounds through this gun without cleaning it and it operates flawlessly. Easy to conceal, comfortable to carry. I also like the fact that it comes with a holster and mag case. This is quickly becoming my favorite carry weapon.

Love this weapon. I've shot nearly 15,000 rounds thru this bad boy and not a single failure. It's been dropped, it's been in the river, it's been in sand and it just keeps on goin. Would and do trust my life to the Springfield XD.

I had the opportunity to shoot this gun the other day and I was really impressed. It is very accurate and it the was not to powerful being a .45 for my smaller female hands. Even with firing several hundred rounds, the gun did not misfire one time.

I purchased this gun in .45 for my off duty carry. It's no bigger than a Glock, fuctionally operates the same and I feel it is MUCH more accurate than the Glock. I've fired boxes and boxes of ammo through it with no malfunctions whatsoever.

Excellent gun... Great firing and smooth shooting... Extremely accurate... The only problem with it is it is a little big and hard to conceal... But the .45 ACP packs a punch...
Love it...

Highly accurate, easy to operate, packs a punch, and no jams.
I've taken the opportunity the shoot the Glock 21C (.45), Springfiled XD-40, Glock 17 (9mm), Beretta PX-4 Storm (9mm) the past month in my decision to purchase a handgun for home protection and carry.
By far the Springfield XD-45 came out on top in being highly accurate, easy to operate, packs a punch, and having no-misfires (only the XD-40 had jams). I also like the fact that the wife felt comfortable operating it, and has led us to the decision of picking one up. It only edged out the Glock 21C by a small margin, but feels superior also in build and target acquisition. Still - these other weapons are a fine choice. You can't go wrong. But for us, it'll be the XD-45.

This gun is your first, last and ultimatly the best for price at just under $500. I bought this gun new from factory three weeks ago and have already fired about 2000 rounds through it with no signs of wear or strain on the pistol. With proper cleaning techniques, which I am not always on par with, the Springfield XD will last for decades and never miss a beat.

I have smaller hands and like the .45 round. With my hand size, I was limited to a single stack mag until I tried the XD in .45. I like the way it handles and the added saftey of the beaver tail or grip safety. I carry a Glock 22 as my issued weapon but would switch in a heart beat if I was authorized. Over all, I am very pleased with the XD's performance

Just finished putting over a thousand rounds through this weapon. Not one single hang/jam/miss-feed, nothing! Had one round not fire but discovered that the round itself(primer)was bad. The feel and the balance are great. The recoil is a lot less than I expected. The one thing I don't like is that the tac lite on the front seems to throw the balance off. Of course that may just be me. My last weapon was a S&W 4506, no place for a mounted tac-lite. 25yds had a nice 2" group. Would recommend this weapon to anyone considering a 45 as a duty or CCW.

I have shot alot of handguns in my time, I started out with a 9mm to much velocity, to much threw and threw, went to 357 to loud, went to 40mm to light. The springfield 45 ACP has the knock down power I like. I , like every other officer hope we don't have to use our sidearm, however if the time comes I know I am going home to my family.

The handgun pictured is the service model. We need to fix that, because the tactical is a beautiful weapon. This is the best handgun that I have ever shot, It is balanced perfectly for nearly zero stress on the hands. if you first shoot this gun with earmuffs on, you will want to take them off, because this gun has the kickback of a .22, but when you take the muffs off, you will then see it is not. This is the perfect firearm for any enthusiast. It has amazing accuracy, and if your eyes and hands work well enough you can hit a steel target at 100 ys every time. The sights are perfectly designed, and you get 13+1 capacity of .45APC. what more can you ask for. There is no safety, but rather a few safety features. It features a Grip safety, striker status indicator, ultra safety asssurance trigger system, loaded chamber indicator, ambidextrious magazine release, an accessory rail and the amazing point and shoot ergonomics. Check this site out if you are interested.

I had an XD .45 for on duty but switched to a Kimber Custom 1911. The XD was way to top heavy and not very well balanced. Not only myself but our range master had issues shooting it. I sold it for what I bought it for so I broke even. After shooting the Kimber I was sold. I would never ever buy another XD again.

I hate to be one of the first with a reliability issue, but after less than 500 rds. the firing pin spring on my 5" .45 XD was so weak it wouldn't even dent the primers on a variety of ammo. We cleaned it, tried it again, same result. After sending it back to Springfield, it came back with a whole new feel and a note just saying "We do not recommend the use of any type of grease in our XD's". Since the only thing I used to clean and lube the gun was Break-Free, I am not sure what that meant, and it was obvious the gun had a new firing pin spring assembly.
It has since shot wonderfully, very accurate and no misfires. However, it is hard to trust a weapon that has failed once before and I am back to my Sig-220 for duty carry. Those of you whining about how big and heavy it is obviously never had to carry a 6" .357 mag back in the day when that was a common issue weapon> lol- Flag as inappropriate

This is my 4th Springfiled duty weapon. Went from a 1911 Loaded, to the XD-40, then to the new XD-45. I utilize a M1A for longer shots, and shoot my M1 Springfiled Custom for competition. Needless to say, Springfiled has another winner in the XD-45. You can't beat their accuracy, trigger feel and it's just a long-wearing weapon. No replacing parts, or watchingfor wear marks or galling on an XD.

I have this pistol for personal defense and general carry. I have equipped it with Trijicon night sights in Green. The accuracy and dependability of this firearm is top notch. Try 5 for 5 in a standard playing card at 15 yards, free hanging. It was a timed shoot at 5 seconds. Like I said, Top Notch. If it has any drawbacks at all, it's the overall size and weight. It's big and heavy with 14 rds of .45 ACP on board. Not great for concealed carry.

I carry this pistol with me just about everywhere I go. It's reliable, easy to clean, and accurate. It has a nice hi-cap magazine, and is light compared to other pistols of comparable size. It does have a bit higher of a profile than most guns, making it a little more difficult to conceal; just buy a good holster for it and you'll be fine. I wouls suggest this pistol yo anyone.

Purchased this weapon system because of Springfield Armory's reputation for solid/reliable weapons for the working man, law enforcement, and military. I love the .45 ACP for its punch and presence, as well as the ability to shoot it and still return to on taget position quickly. The XD has been a dream to shoot and has been one of the most accurate out of the box weapons I have shot without spending over $1000. Great gun.

I have owned a Sig, Kimber, Ruger, all of them duty weapons at some time or another and the XD beats them. I was issued a Glock 22 and was "Top Gun" in my academy class. Since then I have transitioned to the XD Tac in 45ACP. Since the change I have shot no less then 3 possible scores. I love the recoil and the controls are awesome. I have one with the 1911 type thumb safety and could not be happier!!
Since I love this one so much I have also acquired the standard model, also in 45 and a subcompact in 9mm. I have no problem trusting this fine arm with my life and those of the community I serve.- Flag as inappropriate

About 10 men in my unit purchase springfield xd 45 pistols approx 3 years ago. Recently we all started having problems with the magazines. The mag spring failed to push the rounds to the top of the magazine. We talked to Springfields law enforcement people who said they had no reports of problrms., but did say they would replace them.Just wondering if any one else had these problems.
