Bought this compact about a month ago. I have put roughly 1000 rounds through it with no problems or miss fires . Fits my hand perfectly and has very little kickback. Easy to conceal and very trust worthy.

Picked this pistol up on Dec 31. I normally shoot a Smith and Wesson 4006, bigger and much heavier. Well I put around 200 down range at 7 meters, 15 meters and 25 meters. This is a 3 1/2 barrel on a compact pistol. Amazingly enough this pistol holds in the center of mass easily. It has amout the amount of kick I would expect from a .40 but really was a little less than what my 4006 gives.
The most amazing part was that when I did the "point and shoot" drill I was actually hitting within the 7 ring 9 out of 10 at 25 meters. Granted the grip is a bit small (even with the extension clip) but I had no problem using it. For conceal carry I think it will work perfectly.

I first owned two M&P 40c's in 2007--I had issues with both--the good news they were both fixed by Smith & Wesson in a timely manner (customer service is good). I traded both away and went back to a Glock 27 and a Marlin 1895, 45/70 (the ultimate patrol rifle). Now I presently own a 2009 version of the 40c and it’s a great handgun. I like the steel mags, I like the steel Novak sights, I like the way it disassembles (safe), I like the mix of hardened stainless steel parts mixed with high tech polymer (the polymer is stiffer than Glock--more like HK). The 40c is not as compact or a light as the Glock 27. The 40c weighs 1.9ozs more and is 1/4” longer in the barrel and in the grip area--but the 40c handles recoil much better, and seems more accurate in my hands, which could make a real difference in a tactical situation. The 40c is a good compromise between the Glock 23 & 27, the 40c holds 11 and the 27 holds 10. The two styles of mags, 3 interchangeable grip styles, and the interchangeable mag release are a huge advantage (the 40c fits my hand like nothing else, the mag release will make lefties very happy)--and its made in the USA (which is why I gave the 40c another turn). Smith & Wesson has taken the "Glock" to the next logical step--if you are looking to replace a duty of off-duty weapon consider the 40c. By the way a 50,000 round torture test was just accomplished (4/2009)—so it’s tough too.

I bought this to replace a Glock 27 that I usually carried as a back-up. I like the way that the Smith feels in the hand, compared to the 27.

I recently purchased one of these, and I love it. I carry a full size while on duty with the reserve unit. I love the full size so much I had to get one of these for concealed carry. So far no regrets, no misfires, no jams, and no failure to feed. I strongly recommend it. It also has full case head support so reloads don't blowup. I HEARD and put strong emphasis on heard that glock's case head support is not good, and leaves a bulge on cases when fired.

I picked mine up once I graduated from the academy and was able to carry a concealed weapon. I love it i wish I was able to carry the full size while on duty but we are issued our duty weapons. I do carry it in my bail out bag though. What I like about it most is the steel slide that helps to combat the recoil and muzzle rise because of the weight.
