I HAVE A COLT, KIMBER, REMINGTON RAND AND A TAURUS PT1911 ALL IN JOHN BROWNING'S DESIGN. I NEVER LIKE THE LOOKS OR THE FEEL OF THE TAURUS WHEEL GUNS HOWEVER TAURUS HAS REALLY DONE THIS ONE RIGHT.
IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T FIX IT.
TAURUS HAS TAKEN A PROVEN DESIGN AND MADE A RELIABLE FIREARM THAT IS NOT OVER PRICED.

I agree! For those of us with dependents it is hard to drop $1,500.00 or more for a high end 1911. I bought my PT1911 six months ago, threw many rounds through it and now carry it as my primary off duty weapon. You just can't beat the price for what you get. I agree with Col. Jeff Cooper founder of Gunsite, may he rest in peace, the 1911 is the perfect self defense sidearm.

No matter what anyone says, I love Taurus firearms. I owned a PT92 for years, took it to both my PSD training courses. Im a fan of the .45ACP round, a fan of 1911's but not a fan of the ridiculous prices of most of them. This may be my next pistol purchase.

They make this gun with and without rails. I bought the one with rails. It is perfect for my bedside with tactical light attached. But I can't carry the gun outside the house because they made this gun with a major flaw: it does not fit any holster (known to me). I bought holsters made for 1911 clones that have tactical rails. Taurus' don't fit those. I guess the rail part is too thick or something. It has been VERY frustrating. I contacted Taurus directly. They refered me to a guy who makes custom leather holsters. I guess I will buy one of his some day. Otherwise, the gun is fantastic. I am very happy with the feel and shootability of the gun. And if you want a big gun and don't care about tactical rails, I would not think twice about buying the PT 1911 (without rails) if you can find one in stock anywhere.

I have used and carried the 1911 since 1960. I have had National Matches, G.I.s, Sprinfields, Randals, Argentine and Colt 1927s, and this Tuarus (no rails) is THE most accurate, reliable and well made 1911 I'e ever owned. At one third of the cost of the big name guns, it comes with Heinie night sights (Figure eight), ported, fitted barrel and bushing, chrome lined stainless barrel, Beavertail grip safety with memory pad, front strap checkering and in spite of having a series 80 type firing pin drop safety, has a magnificent trigger pull. It's as accurate as any match gun and totally reliable with all types of HP (I only use hard ball because, as they used to say in the Army: "They all fall to hardball". For well under 500.00 you can have the function anmd reliabilty you can depend on with your life.

The Taurus PT 1911 has been my Duty pistol for the last year. This is a real good gun. Dependable and reliable. I would recommend the gun to anyone that wants a 1911 without paying $2,000.00 for a gun.

great gun for those on a budget. it has many match grade parts; and it has a smooth action and it is a great 45; love the henie sights. if you tried to purchase a match grade pistol with everything that the taurus 1911 has you would spend over $1200; and for $625.00 it is a bargain. You can not beat it for the price.

Just bought a 1911AR. I've carried P=220's, Para's, Kimbers and Colts on duty. This pistol is hands down the best value for the money. The only thing I can think of doing on mine is adding night sights. The trigger is superb. I have a handload made up that is a tack driver in my P-220, I hope it shoots as well in this Taurus. Only downside I can find is the lack of holsters.

Had a H&K USP .45 couldn't hit anything because of the long trigger pull, although im not the best shot with a pistol anyway, i traded the H&K for this and am hitting sillouette targets in the chest consistently at 25-30 yards. simplest, easiest automatic pistol to operate hands down and definatly well priced

I bought the model w/o rails and I couldn't be happier. It does need night sights though. I changed the recoil spring to a 20lb spring through midwayusa.com. I also changed the grips to a rubber Houge grip and it handles great. You can get a quick and accurate follow-up shot if needed. I had a kimber before and to say the least, I was not happy.

I have looked at custom .45 pistols for years and wondered if I was the only one who didn't see how such a high price could be justified for one.

I got my hands on the Taurus 1911 for under $400...so I felt I was ahead of the game. After close to 500 rounds through it I am still very happy and would not trade it for anybody else's custom pistol.

There are those out there that can afford $1500-3000 for a pistol; I am not one of those people. For the money I love Taurus and for the deal I got, I am even happier. I am looking to add another to the collection ASAP.

Mine has Novak sights and I have replaced the stock grips with Hogue grips and love the feel of them. Added a laser and life is still very good.

Anyone deciding whether or not to get one of these pistols should go ahead and do so. You won't be disappointed.
