I don't drive a police version but I do own one. I love this car. Tons of room and horse power. I got it with a HEMI. I would love it if Chicago got a few of these.

It will be interesting to see how long a 2.7L engine is holding up after 60K miles. The last Chrysler I drove was fine until it crossed the 35-40K threshold then it started to rattle like a tin can full of rocks and the V-8 began to tire. I cannot imagine that a 2.7L is going to hold up for a long life in police work, even a hemi. Would be a real wonder if it did. Don't use the AC, boys.

Faster than anything else out there, if equipped correctly. Needs better mileage so more agencies will consider it. Roomy and comfortable. As for Chrysler reliability...we'll see...

The Dodge came out with a nice package. As a driving instructor we tested ten models of the new Dodge Charger. We found several safety issues which include a delay when trying to go from drive to reverse, this raised some issues with me when an officer is on a traffic stop and needed to back away to get a reactionary gap, a second is to long. Also I found that only after s few hundred miles, the brakes needed to be replaced. This vehicle would be great for a highway interdiction team not for a patrol vehicle. There are defiantly to many blind spots, not enough room, but it is fun to drive fast.

I drive the 2005 Magnum. It has pros and cons. These are compared to the crown Vic.
Pros: More driver, passenger room. Very smooth driving and great handling. Faster pick-up and can beat v-8 fords ( I have the v-6). Better front seats with a high head rest.
Cons: Blind spots everywhere with a K-9 cage. Lower to the ground and cannot go up curbs very well without hitting the bottom. Trunk is spacious but hard to reach in the back without almost having to climb in. Center console on the 2005 makes it hard to grab the seatbelt with a gunbelt on. I have the shifter in the center console which gets in the way of my lights and siren controller.
One more thing which can be either a pro or con. I am the only one with the magnum in the city. Everyone stops and asks me about the car. People pull up to me at traffic lights, pull up when Im traffic stops. It really gets hard to smile and talk about the car for the 500th time. But then again I wanted to be a movie star before being a cop....

Nice looking vehicle if the graffics are done correctly. We just got one on our department and well. It is roomy, starts like a nascar and feels like setting in a cockpit of a race car. Could use a bit more power, but they drive nice and well received in the village.

I own a 2007 V6 and it still has enough pep to do the job, tons of room, a great comfortable ride and not to mention it looks bad ass! I would love for Satellite Beach to add one of these. We currently have the HEMI in a Charger, from what I hear, we are possibly getting 2 more Chargers but these will have the V6. Gas friendly but still enough engine to get the job done. Only thing about the Charger is it's really small inside with all the radio equipment. The Magnum would be much better in my opinion.

I live in the Adirondack mountains of New York. We had two suvs but replaced one with a Charger.. I'm wondering if anyone has one in an area with snow. I know that the Charger did not impress me last year. I'll have my review on that one under the Charger. This appears to have the room of an SUV with the speed and agility of a car.

We have one Magnum and the rest are Chargers. The Magnum actually handles better than the chargers when cornering, something to do with the weight distribution. I love it. I was recently in a pursuit with a Yamaha 600 "crotch rocket". He could not pull away from me. I topped out at 155 and it was as smooth as could be.

We currently have Crown Vics in our department. We are looking to other vehicles for 2008, this vehicle is one of them. When I test drove this vehicle it was impressive. It is wicked fast and has decent room. I hope we purchase some this year!

I acutally drive a 2008 police pkg model, and I can agree with some of the comments about shifting from drive to reverse..there is a delay and is not practical when attempting to turn around after someone, it has some blind spots also but when you get used to them, u really dont have an issue. The brakes were changed for 08 and so far Ive put over 10k miles and havent had any problems with them. I can tell you that this vehicle will get up and go, and handles really nice, but you definately need to practice with it before going on patrol, definately not a crown vic!!...I really love it. and it gets alot of looks from the public...

I drove this car for five weeks during my vacation in FL. I think it is a good patrol car. The trunk is good to put all your stuff in and the acceleration was fine. I think that this car would be a good patrol car.The only PD I saw driving it down there was the Atlantis and Aventura PD. Also painted in black & white, they look good. Basicly it is a bit like a Charger, but as a station wagon.

Wow, it looks amazing! Don't see that driving around Brooklyn everyday! Anyway I do think that for high speed chases it could probably use an 8 liter v8(correct me if I'm wrong).

Ok first off you can't jump a curb in it. So it's gonna be a bit rough trying to pursue down a messed up road. I'll stick with the ford it is proven to take what we dish out.
