You want serious? This is it! No wimps here. This thing isn't alloy, it's solid steel and you can feel it when carrying it around too long. Built like a tank with double slide rails. Barrel is 18 1/2" and it holds 6 rounds of 00 Buck, 0000 Buck or a very mean slug. Cycles smooth and pourposeful and oh, that beautiful sound that turns criminals blood colder than a norther snowstorm is loud and clear. All business here. Qualified with it last @ 100% in rapid fire, dead on and authoritive, easy to reload. Vented recoil pad helps absorb those heavy, rapid fire loads. Bought this locally priced @ $169. It has sling swivels attached, synthetic, parkarized finish, non-reflective black and it don't take prisoners. Need backup, here's a good Pardner.

I bought this for my first shotgun. It's super heavy but very solid. the only problem i've had with it is finding parts, i.e. forend lights and what not, for it. however it's a great shotgun. i got mine for alittle less than 200. i think i got mind for 167 w/ tax? maybe? it's been awhile and many guns ago.

One of the best shotguns I've ever owned and you can't beat the price!

I bought this shotgun locally after my wife showed it to me and asked if I had one yet. I picked it up for $170. It's short length makes throwing it behind the seat in my regular cab pickup easy. It's basically an 870 clone so most 870 parts fit it, except 870 barrels, they won't fit. Very reliable and tough.

I went HD shotgun shopping over at Acedemy Sports a few days ago, I took a look at the Mossberg and Remington 870 $300+ for both and then the guy showed me the H&R Pardner Protector, it was the first time I picked one up. The first thing that impressed me was its heft, it is a solid, solid piece of steel, the last HD shotgun I had was an Ithaca 8-shot M&P, a great gun for sure, a light weight that I carried mainly on Kodiak Island Alaska for bear defence, so the lighter gun was nice. As I won't be dragging the H&R around the woods the weight feels great, What!! $189!! SOLD!!

I took it home and put about 20 rounds of 00 and 000 buck both 2 3/4 and 3" shells, no problem with the 3", the solid heft takes up the recoil just fine, I don't think you'll find a better HD shotgun for this price, I live and work in New Orleans so a sling next just in case I need to lug it around again in some "post-Katrina type lunacy"

This is a great value shotgun. Built like a tank and operates very smoothly. The only thing that bothered me was that scope rails listed for this shotgun don't fit as advertised. The receiver has a recessed area on top but the scope mounts are made to fit a round surface. The screws are too short. Once you find proper length screws, the mount is solid. When I called H&R/NEF and asked if accessories for the 870 or any other shotgun would fir, I was told no.
Regardless, I mounted a rail and a Burris FastFire red dot sight. Sweet!!!!! It love everything I feed it from 2 3/4' and 3' slugs to bird shot. I do believe they got it right. If 870 accessories fit, that's a bonus.

Awesome shotgun for the money... and "almost" all Remington 870 parts will fit it except for the receiver rail which I can't seem to find ANYWHERE! Anyone know of a site to purchase one so I can mount some new sights???

great great gun... no complaints at all... as for the mounts. I have a 870 receiver plate adapter on mine.. works great.... they do make a few mods for the gun... but not to many.. I picked mine up used but never fired for 100.00... Here is a link to a site that has a few parts.. f you need anything i have a few more sites.. and again as another member stated the barrels will not fit.. but you can add in a slip in choke..
