The Road King FLHP will provide motor officers with a great experience with its Twin Cam 103 engine and 6-speed transmission.

I have been a motor officer for over 7 years and found the Road King to be the best over all MC for patrol use.

I have ridden the Road King and Dyna Glide. The Road King RULES!! The Dyna had a very light rear end (over all weight) and would break traction when the wind blew. The Road King is great...

The 2007 Road King is the third Road King that we have used for patrol and traffic. I like the RK over the Electra Glide as I prefer the windshield version over the bat wing faring. The new 103ci engine is much faster than last years. but runs a whole lot hotter and lugs at low speeds (under 5mph for any distance).

I liked the 2005 so well that I purchased the one that I rode when the lease was up! Great bike, which has carried me more than 15,000 miles since March '06.

The dept I worked for had some of these. They said it was a little too heavy, several dropped them before. But overall they liked it.

Best patrol bike on market. If you need even more speed, get a VROD.

Our agency has used these since the conception of our motor unit. They look great, run strong, but they could be a little louder as far as pipes are concerned.

Now that I've retired and can afford one, it's one of the next things on my list to get. Still looking for the exact one that I want. Already have all the gear, just need the wheels.

We recently took delivery of our 2008 FLHRP and I must admit it's definitely different from our other Road Kings. The ABS brakes are wonderful; smooth and efficient. The "throttle-by-wire" is OK, although I've heard complaints of people actually rolling the throttle in the opposite direction when they turn the bike off and when they start it back up the engine revs to about 3K rpms. I've not experienced that problem though. Overall a very comfortable, agile bike that I don't mind spending a 12 hr shift on.

Though not as fast as your common sport bike - the FLHP Road King allowed me to steadily remain in any bikes mirrors. Handling on white lines in rush hour traffic along any arterial roadway in New York City was always a breeze. I loved this bike so much so that I purchased a new FLHP Police Special in 2004 - in 2006 I upped to a Ultra-glide Classic, which I since regret. The Raod King as a patrol bike and as a POV were by far the best wheels to ever use.

Nothing better than riding AMERICAN steel. It is like riding a couch. Has everything you need on duty, Style, comfort, noise for others to know you are there and get more positive comments than those other guys....

Yep, this is like an old friend. Been riding the RK for years, and currently on an '08 with ABS. It might not go as fast as the metrics, but it sure is the benchmark, and a solid ride. The ABS alone will save your life!

There is ONLY one bike that a POLICE OFFICER should only be allowed to ride and that is a HARLEY. Have you heard of command presence.

The Road King is the traditional Police Bike. It has Style but is lacking in acceleration and braking to the BMW. Looks are not everything but it is a lot!

I'm just glad that we got rid or our very last one just the other day. To everyone who says it's the best motorcycle ever you've obviously never ridden anything else to be able to pass that judgment. It's dreadfully slow, it shakes like a two wheeled vibratory roller, it scrapes at every turn and the idea that the H-D factory used motorcops as guinea pigs for several years to "test their ABS" leaves a lot to be desired in my heart. BTW, on my last model year, an 07', I went through 11 starters in one year and was repeatedly told that there was no problem, until the following year where the problem that wasn't a problem was corrected. Did I mention the repeated ABS failures in 05' that resulted in many officers, including me, being injured that were all covered by workers comp that never seemed to be mentioned? So what problems are going to rise up with this "new" 09' frame? Oh yeah, it already can't turn within a 18' circle, the brakes need another 20 feet to stop the bike, it's wider and yep, it still runs hotter than a jet engine...

Have been riding the Road King since 03. Heavy, solid motor that handles & responds like a feather. (my experience/opinion). I enjoyed the ride so much that I purchased the City's 1997 Road King, Lights & all... Just had it painted & is being assembled as a Law Enforcement Memorial Motor. Several of my co-workers have purchased the 09 Road King. Rides beautifully. the 103 ci does run a bit hotter, but in this New England climate (spring & fall) the heat is welcomed.

Let's see, where do I start? It's American, it's heavy, It has loads of torque, it handles great, it looks great, it's American, it sounds great, it's comfortable, it's American, It has lots of adjustments to make it your own, citizens love it, it has great re-sale, it's American, it's not a BMW, a Honda, or a Vespa, you actually know when it's running, and it's American. We get new bikes every year, so I've been able to see the progression of the improvements Harley has made for us. It gets better every year. Once you shave the stops, as Harley recommends for the Police bikes, it actually turns tighter and leans more than precious years. The high speed handling is superb for '09, which makes it a joy to ride. There's just something right about a Cop on a Harley...

Good partrol bike for the road warrior. If you live in areas with dirt roads and might have to go off road, stick with a nice Dual Sport BMW, Ducati or Kawasaki.

I have owned several Harley Davidson motorcycles including the Harley Davidson Police Road King. The Road King offers offers a great ride along with the room to carry your necessary equipment. The bike is not too big or top heavy for it's size and has the needed speed and agility to get the job done. For medium to medium large city work the Road King is the bike you need and want for the job.

The NEW HD product is vastly different than the old ones. I would rank the old ones at a one star at best especially the ones with the tank shifter.
The new motors that HD has are really very good motors that will serve current MC Officers very well. They are not the fastest by far but they are very tough and pretty reliable now and for PR purposes, they are hard to beat.
