Awesome accuracy, shoots very tight grouping. comfrontable and light with Sig-Sauer dependability.

Great accuracy, dependable, fits well, even in smaller hands--can be difficult to break down and put back together until you get the hang of it, though.

Civillian shooter: in over 3000 rounds, I have never had a jam or any other type of failure, once even after shooting over 250 rounds in short sequence. I love my SP2009.

I began collecting as well as shooting Military and Law Enforcement pistols once I got my CCW Permit in CT in 2002. I had been eyeing the SIGS, especially the 220/226's after the DoD Shootout to find the sidearm to replace the revered M1911, but they were entirely out of my price range. One Saturday I stopped at my gundealer for ammo before getting to the range. He pulled me off to the side and showed me the SIG he got for me: the SP2009 with the slide-mounted safety. It was love at first sight. The breakdown was similar to my CZ-75, so no problem there. Best part was he told me it was mine for $375 OTD. An hour later I was at my range, broke it down, cleaned it with CLP Blaster, re-lubed it, and went to town with Blazer Brass rounds. I had one fail to battery in the first mag; the notch in the slide didn't allow the barrel to seat. Tetra grease fixed that issue; tolerances were tight and the Tetra did the job. The outdoor pistol range was 25 yds, so it is a real test to shoot a pistol well; the SIG did well in spite of the distance. Four boxes of shells later, I packed up for home. My trophy was a 12 inch Shoot-n-See with an entire mag placed somewhere in the black, and 3 of 10 rounds in the X ring. Needless to say, I continue to hold my 2009 in high regard, and my dealer got even more of my gun business for getting me a SIG at a price I could handle with a son in college. I eventually installed a Large backstrap because of my large hands; the gun came with a Medium installed; that I could adjust the trigger length is a great feature for a $375 SIG. Some time later I read that every LEO in France was going to get an upgraded SP2009, and that did not give me any grief. I have since added the SIG Serpa holster and several spare (Mec-Gar) 10 rd mags on sale at CDNN, and I continue to be extremely satisfied with my pistol. Other people have asked to try her out, and all have acted pleasantly surprised, almost as if it was somehow a sin that SIG had made a polymer frame pistol. I now know how 225,000 French policemen feel about their new SIG sidearms. She's easy to hold on target, the sights are well designed, and she handles the 9mm Para round recoil well, making follow-up shots easy to get where you want them to go. She stands even with my XD-40 for polymer frame pistols I will definitely keep.
