Radio is very user friendly, but is bulky and unreliable at times. The unit comes with a smart battery and charger that is supposed to extend radio life.

The state of South Dakota is uning a digital VHF trunked system. We have several of these. They work very well. Just like any other "digital" radio they are expensive.

The biggest problem I have found with digital radios is having to turn them in whenever they need programming the agency I worked for had digital and everytime some other department in our area decided they needed to change freq or add a different freq we would be without radios for 1 to 2 days

Bulky and the batteries don't last. I don't care too much for digital versus analog, but it is easier for communications, when it works right. But it's what we got now, so $2500.00 wow.!!

The emergency alert button on the top of the radio was a great idea. I have had this radio for approximately 1 year and the battery is still good

800mhz doesn't work well against your body sometimes. Good Radio, but has some antenna problems for us.

Good radio. Of course considering the price should be a great radio.

We love our 30 portables that we purchased last year. Very user friendly, easy to scan and program and very reliable! Highly recommended.

This digital radio was promised to be superior to our old system. I would say that half of the time it goes into some type of digital interfered garbage that you can't understand. I have also heard plenty of accidental trips on the emergency button.

Our Dept has this radio and just recently I bluetoothed it and realiy like the fact that the perps cannot here my radio traffic anymore. Also comes in handy on traffic stops due to traffic noise I do not miss a radio check now. Definitely worth the 150.00 out of pocket I spent to do this.

I hate them, we switched to digital and now the radio cannot reach base station. Clearly an officer safety issue

Much better than our old system. It is a little harder to use, but it is much more reliable and the system is state wide.

The radio is good in theory; that is, the digital trunked 800mHz works great in the lab. System has a lot of good options: emergency feature, statewide coverage, programmable. However, coverage is a big issue. It takes money to increase coverage, which our locale has trouble realizing. It is great that I can call from Detroit to the tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula, but if I can't talk to the officer on the other side of the house with a barricaded gunman inside, what good is it. The system CAN be great, but it has to be done right: enough radios, proper dispatch equipment, enough towers for coverage and lastly, enough TRAINING.

They are pretty good. The only downside is that when standing next to others, not all of the radios will broadcast. Its almost like they are pulling the radio waves away from one another. Good when not near anyone else though.

Great talking Radio. With front key pas you are able to set off tones for pagers and sirens. Only draw back large attenna get caught on shorter officers

AMAZING Radio..
The IMPRES battery system is HORRIBLE! As a train the trainer I love this radio and hate the battery. They have to be at less then 30% in order to charge so many times less then 2 hrs into a shift my radio goes dead on me.
MAJOR OFC SAFETY issue.
The standard nonimpres batteries may not last years like the new ones do they will give you more talk time out of the box.- Flag as inappropriate
