Never had a problem with this weapon! Loads great everytime and has not had very many misfires at all!! It's a little heavy, and with the way the hammer works, the first shot is very stiff, it takes a long time to pull the trigger, but the first shot is ALSO the most accurate!

Carried this weapon for over 10 years and I heard many complaints about it. I never had a problem with mine. The only downfall I see is the weight.

This is my state-issued duty weapon. It is basically the same as our old 4006. I have never had a problem with this handgun, though it is a little on the heavy side. Overall, I am sure there are better duty weapons out there, but after using this model for 10 years, I have grown comfortable and proficient with it.

Ive got the original 4006 model in full nickel. Besides the weight, its one of the better pistols I have in the armory.
Its a true "point and shoot" pistol that any person - novice to expert - can hit paper with right out of the box.
Great craftsmanship, excellent reliability, good sights, great grips for large hands.

This was one the smoothest guns I've ever owned in a .40 S&W!

wnderful handgun.... This is the gun I taught my girlfriend to shoot, she now shoots better with it than I do, she keeps the 9mm..... and I feel safe, leaving her home alone with it...... great for personal protection

I got one, I love it. Never had to draw it except on the range, but there it never failed me. I was the assist Range Master/ firearms instructor, so I got to show off a lot, especially for advanced classes. I love my guns and the 4006sw is my favorite.

I am a Glock man. However I purchased one of these a few years back and carried on duty for about a year. I love this weapon. It felt good in the hand, and fired flawlessly. I got rid of it when I bought a Sig, but regretted it almost immediatley. The only flaw I found was the weight of the gun. Other than being heavy it was great.

This is our Dept. issued weapon. Good gun but doesn't fit my hand no matter what I try.
I would buy one just to have but would not be my choise for a Duty weapon.

We use to have this gun in Atlanta, but the frame kept cracking so they replaced them with the awsome S&W M&P. The 4006tsw also has more kick back due the the higher frame, doesn't have rails, and has a horible grip.

Weapon is heavy, all the officers in my agency complain about this. Shooting scores went down when agency went to this weapon. Agency currently looking at the Smith&Wesson M&P.

A lot of controversy in the newspaper when our department was going through the process of purchasing the weapons. Apparently they could have purchased other weapons for a cheaper prices and so on. This weapon in my opinion has proved to be very accurate and dependable. I don't know about price, but you might just get what you pay for. The only down side is its is a little heavy, but then again its not of a polymer construction.

The TSW is even heavier than the old 4006. At the end of my shift my back is killing me. Add a tactical light and a heavier holster, to accommodate the light, it gets even heavier. My TSW has had to go back for three warranty repiars (sear, slide lock, defective magazines). When I shoot the TSW it is like holding brick. The ergonomics is horrible and not adjustible. The trigger pull is heavy with a long travel. With an average size hand it is impossible to reach the slide release, while gripping the gun. There are better quality guns which are less expensive. It is not compact or concealable. If you must have S&W buy a M&P series. It is hard to have 100% faith in the reliability of the TSW. The TSW would make a good boat anchor!

This is my favorite gun in the world and I've owned a few. Like all smiths it has a little wiggle tolerance in all the right places and tight in all the right places. A thing of beauty. Fires my favorite ammo of all time the .40sw. Much stronger than a 9mm and much less recoil than a 45 even with plus loads supersonic rated +P powered ammo. A little heavier than your plastic guns, but I like it all the same. Never in hundreds of rounds has it ever failed to feed or shoot straight and I've fired all sorts of ammo. It seems fond of Fiocchi's for me as my cheap 28 cent go to round. I paid only $300 for mine and if you shop around and are lucky enough to find one in that price range I'd buy it. You can find cheaper guns and you can find more expensive guns but you can;t find a better gun in my opinion. If you need a more accurate gun at long range the only thing I've fired that was impressively accurate at 50+ yards was an old smith 6" 38 special revolver.

One of my first issued firearms. Love it, and miss it. Now carrying the glock 17, it's ok, but it's nothing to this gun!
