This book is excellent...written by a police officer's wife, it explores the (often unknown) and complicated world of police marriages.

The book contains many helpful passages; including but not limited to....dealing with the pressures of shift work, the "always on-call" profession, the struggle for officer's and their families to adjust to an ever-changing and challenging profession, support during difficult times, the issues of trust, personality changes and emotional conflict.

The book also explores the look into the breakdown of communication along the lines of police families and suggests helpful ways that other police families have used to cope.

I found this very helpful; it reminded me that although in this profession we deal with so much and become "hardened to it", we still have feelings, emotions and needs.....all of which need to be addressed. And there are situations along the line in everyone's career where we have to remind ourselves that we are human and it is OK to cry/show emotion/let it out. This has helped me to encourage loved ones and co-workers to try and deal more effectively.
