| Description: | The most common dress uniform is the Blue Dress uniform, often seen in recruiting advertisements. It is often called "Dress Blues" or simply "Blues". It is equivalent in composition and use to black tie. The various designations are listed in descending order of formality: Blue Dress "A" has a long-sleeved midnight blue coat (enlisted members have red trim) with a standing collar and belt (white web & gold waistplate for enlisted, blue for officers with a gold M-buckle), white barracks cover (a peaked cap), plain white shirt, sky blue trousers, white gloves, and black shoes and socks. Large medals are worn on the left chest; ribbon-only awards on the right. Marksmanship badges are not worn. Females wear pumps in place of shoes, and may wear a skirt in place of slacks. For males, the dress coat is cut to be formfitting. Blue Dress "B" is the same as "A", but medals are replaced with their corresponding ribbons and all are consolidated on the left. Marksmanship badges may be worn. Blue Dress "C" is same as "B" but without the outer blue coat and white gloves. A khaki long sleeve button-up shirt and tie are worn instead. Ribbons and badges are normally worn on the shirt. Blue Dress "D" is same as "C", but with a khaki short sleeve button-up shirt and no tie. |

I want to hear from Officers who've bought uniforms from The Marine Shop, The Mameluke, or The Exchange in Quantico, VA. Compare quality, service, cost, etc. For my two cents, The Marine Shop has superior quality but is the most expensive. I've heard good things about The Mameluke as well. Don't know anyone who purchased uniforms from The Exchange.

MY BROTHER WAS A MARINE AND WHEN HE CAME HOME ON LEAVE AND ATTENDED MY OTHER BROTHERS 8TH GRADE GRADUATION HE WORE HIS DRESS BLUES. I KNOW THAT I AM PARTIAL TO MY BIG BROTHER BUT HE LOOKED SO HANDSOME AND PROUD. IN MY OPPINION, THE MARINE DRESS BLUES IS THEN NICEST OF ANY UNIFORM, NOT TO TAKE AWAY FROM OTHER UNIFORMS BUT IT JUST SAYS "LOOK AT ME, IM A PROUD MARINE!!" SEMPHER FI

It is the sharpest of all the dress uniforms in any branch of the service world wide. I proudly wore it for 10 years and my hats off to all the men and women still wearing it and serving today.

the dress blues is the main reason I joined..a buddy and I were walking down the street after high school let out one afternoon, and we saw two recuiters in undress blues...that is the prettiest combination of uniform...we joined in the buddy system after graduation...the blues has NO equal when it comes to colors...easlily recognized by anyone as to what branch it is when seen!!! the blood red stripe is one that is really looked forward to earning...Corporal!!! now they call it Lance Corporal!! I still have my last set...cannot fit in it,but am proud to have it!!

There's not enough stars to rate this uniform. My father is a Marine. He looks sharp in his Blues. When there are more than one Marine in the Blues, there's an awesome sight. There is nothing better.....

I wore my dress Blues, with honor and pride and Espirit De Corps.
And women do notice a Marine in Dress Blues. It is the only custom tailored uniform a Marine will wear in his lifetime, that will get noticed everywhere he goes.
Years later, we add a few extra pounds, but the Blues still stay the same, and still manage to tone us down and slim us up quite abit.
