Glock 21 (.45 caliber semi-auto for those who aren't sure what the caliber for the 21 is) is the workhorse of the uniformed officer or deputy sheriff. It's my duty weapon issued to acouple thousand sworn personnel in my agency. I like its simplicity and ease of operation. It'll fire round after round without a malfunction as long as the shooter dones't limp wrist it or otherwise cause a human error initiated malfunction.

This is a great duty gun. Made strictly for battle ready use. There are no external buttons that snag. When you need the gun it shoots, and is easy to maintain. Great weapon.

i have had a glock since 1992 and have never had a malfunction. i do not like a safety on a duty weapon. i did not like the stock sights(night sites are best). it is a true duty weapon.

The weapon fits my hand and works with my grip. I have very large hands and the glock 21 works. Very user friendly easy to field strip for cleaning. Works very well in wet environments.

I have been an officer for 13 years now and have carried Glocks for most of that time. I currently carry the G21SF as it replaced my G23. I started my career carring a 45, but the G21 was always a hair to big for my hands. The new G21SF is a great duty weapon. I have over 5000 rounds thorough it now and not a single malfunction. The 45 ACP is making a comeback in LE, and I believe this a great piece to take a look at if your considering the switch to 45.

While shooting this weapon I had a catastrophic failure (kaboom). The weapon was sheared into two pieces and I had brass and plastic embedded in my face.
My agency had another kaboom three days later with the Glock 21. This officer was injured, and cant work because of the pain.
It should be noted that my weapon was cleaned with authorized materials the night before going to the range. I was shooting factory practice ammo.
Officers in my agency no longer carry the .45 Glocks, sadly we are forced to carry the 9mm.
I shudder to think what would have happened if I was on the street and my weapon exploded in my face.
I would carry the .45 again if Glock was able to fix the problem.- Flag as inappropriate

In the SF version this is probably the most innovative handgun to hit the market this year. I've shot a couple of the SF's. Typical Glock 45 accuracy, very good.

The Glock 21 is an excellent combat firearm. I was an avid Sig Sauer fan until I took the Glock out for a "test ride". I was in a firefight with a Sig 226 (9mm) but now carry the Glock 21 (.45 caliber) as my duty weapon. I carry the Glock 30 as a back-up and off-duty. Hitting center mass is fun and the Glocks are easy to disassemble and clean.

I carried one of these several years ago and it was one of the best .45 pistols I have ever shot. It fit my hand well, was back on target quickly and felt minimal recoil. With 3 mags I had 40 rounds ready to go and with that much .45 if you ran out of ammo, you were not supposed to still be there.

My only complaint about this weapon is that, being female, I find that the grips are too wide for my hand. This is a department issue gun and so I have no choice in what to carry. I am not comfortable with it due to this fact.

I have a department issued .45. I love my gun, I could be one of the exceptions to the rule. Being a firearms instructor, I often hear females complain that it is to big. I don't have big hands and I do just fine with it. I've never had a problem with mine.

The Glock 21 is a reliable hand gun, but the grip is a little thick and unconfortable for those with small hand. I like the feel of the New Glock 21SF with the thinner grips. My only other complaint is recoil that is caused by light plastic guns.

I carried the Mod 21 for about 5 years on duty. I was carrying a Smith 5609 till one day I went to the range to qualify and could not hit the side of a barn which was very unusual for me. Went the next day to the eye doctor and got glasses thinking that was the problem but the next time on the range, I had the same thing happen. A friend was on the range that day and offered to let me shoot his Mod 21 and I put three rounds in a hole the size of a dime from 30 yards and went the next day and ordered myself a Glock Mod 21. The Lt. over the range said that the sights on my 5906 were out of whack and had to be sent back to Smith & Wesson to be corrected.
I never had any problems qualifying after getting my Glock.- Flag as inappropriate

This is the standard issue handgun for my department. Large frame for smaller shooter, the new S.F. should take care of the size. I have over 20,000 rounds through mine and it is working as well as ever. I recommend this handgun to anyone working in "Hostile" environments. Though I am still a 1911 fan, this handgun is my first choice when it comes to a working handgun.

Great weapon as is any glock. Powerful. It's the department issue gun. It fits my hands perfectly I love the feel of the gun. If your a bigger guy and you shoot this guy, you will love the feeling compared to some tiny gripped 9mm or .40. This the big man sized gun. Maybe be too large for some people with smaller hands, I have heard some of the smaller guys in the department complain about how big the gun is.

Accurate, tough and reliable... I carry this as a backup weapon in my car and have more faith in it than my primary duty weapon, the Sig Sauer P226R. In an ideal situation, this is the tool that I would grab to get the job done in a firefight. The Sig would simply watch from the sideline...

A lot bigger than my 17, but it gets the job done. Kind of big for females, it takes some getting used to. When there is a round in the chamer and your loading a full magazine you really have to jam it in there to seat. I like the load indicator to let you know if there is a round in the chamber, no more press checks.

The Glock 21 far surpasses any other weapon I own, in terms of reliability, ruggedness, ease of use, low maintenance and expense. I have long considered most 1911 style pistols to be superior in terms of accuracy, where as the Glock 21 is the work horse of the .45 caliber weapons. Most 1911's require a fair amount of maintenance and the Glock can be used, abused time and again.

My first duty pistol was a Glock 22, I was suprised at how durable it was, never a malfunction, not too happy with the accuracy, but I hadn't shot competively in almost 10 years. My department switched to the Glock 21 same duarability but the accuracy has improved drastically.

I am particularly taken by the recoil. It has a firm kick but if your used to shooting, you can handle it with ease. Never had a jam and theres not alot of "extra" switches to hang up on gear or clothing. A definit recommended piece to carry for the larger haned officer.

As a firearms instructor, I get to shoot a lot of different weapons. I personally carry the Glock 21 for several reasons. First, it is .45 ACP. Second it carries 13+1 of .45 ACP. Third, it shoots whatever ammo I stuff into the mag, period. Never had a malfunction. Fourth, it is accurate. Finally, I have big hands and the issue Glock 22 feels like a toy. There are other pistols as good as Glock, but none that are appreciably better. I would take either the Glock 21 or a good 1911 any day, but I know the Glock 21 will work 100% right out of the box, whereas many 1911's must be broken in or adjusted before I'll bet my life on them.

At quals I out shot everyone, even two with 1911s. Never a malfuction, 13+1 of capacity, extremely accurate for a duty weapon, just what more can a person ask for? This will always be on my hip!

.45 is power I like having. It is our new duty weapon, we are currently making the transition and I couldn't be happier. Going from the model 22 .40 cal to this is nothing more than re-qualifying and I love it. The grip is a bit more like a bar of soap, sure, but the platform is simplicity itself, just point and click. I do like the higher number of rounds with the .40 but I can get over that. The recoil is lighter since the muzzle velocity is lower and that makes it even easier to get multiple rounds on target in less time.

A great gun that does exactly what is asked of it! At the agency where I started my career I carried a Smith and Wesson Sigma 40 cal and had nothing but problems with it. Numerous malfunctions occured (including having to push the pin back into the frame of the gun with a finger in the middle of qualification rounds) and I was always shooting low/left because of the heavy trigger pull. I had difficulty qualifying right before I left, but within a few days of starting at my current agency I had to qualify with my newly issued 21. I had never fired the gun before, but I qualified on my first round and have never had a problem since!

I have carried one on duty since 2000 and have had no problems with it. I enjoy range pratice and qualification with it as there is almost no recoil as with other .45s. It makes it easier to come back on target after multiple rounds, and it is easy to clean and keep clean. A perfect grip on the weapon with my long fingers. Just a wonderful weapon to shoot. From 1995 till 2000 I carried a Smith + Wesson 357 Magnum that I had when I started my police career in 1976. I had to retire that one and went right to the Glock 21 as I felt it was and still is comparable to the 357.

I have owned the 21 Glock for several years and consider it to be one of the greatest firearms of the century. The weapon is damn near perfect. Everything from the grip, to the adjustable Glock night sights are right on. I have fired this weapon with the standard fixed sights with very good results, but prefer the upgraded sights. Trigger pull is exceptional, with a strong but easy pull. I usually shoot a 280grn Jacketed Hollowpoint round and have acheived very tight groups to 15 yards. 25 yards prone shooting resulted in better shots than I have ever fired with another weapon under the same conditions.

This is the only Glock handgun that I am not a fan of although it still bears Glock's hallmark of high quality. For those with smaller to medium size hand (like myself) this particular piece feels like trying to shoot a .45 with a 2x4 for a grip. I even know of some folks with monster mitts whose hands do not adequately fit this firearm.

After I first bought this gun I took it out and tested it. I set up a soda can and walked about 20 yards away and turned around, aimed and fired. I was very impressed that I hit the can dead center, right at the point I had aimed for. Not only is it accurate but it fits my hand perfectly. I also enjoy knowing that I have that kind of stopping power. When I hit that can I sent it about 15 feet back into a bush and realised it wasn't exactly the best target to be shooting at. But non the less, I hit a rather small target with impressive accuracy and at the time I knew I had a gun that would be with me for a long time. I had not ever fired a glock before that. I had this gun for about two months before I ever took it out to see what it could do and in an instant it rose far above any expectation I thought I would ever have for a 45.

Overall a very solid and dependable firearm. But unless you have the hands, you're better off with the 21 SF. I've heard the comment, that holding a standard 21, is like holding a bar of soap. Fact is, if it doesn't fit flush in your hand, then it's not for you. This couldn't be more accurate, as the 21 does pack a considerable amount of recoil and if you're not comfortable holding it, then chances are, you'll have less sucess controlling it. But overall, there's a reason so many LE agencies carry this model and brand. I own this particular piece for range firing and primarily home defense. Definitely would not reccommend for CC, unless it's the SF.
If you're considering this piece for primary home defense, a word of advice... DO NOT waste your money on the Night Sights. I've seen a lot of people buy this accessory and end up wondering why they did in the first place. Instead, spend a fraction of the price that you would have spent on night sights and get yourself a GTL-10 or 11. I highly reccommend this as a must-have, for home defense. If in the unfortunate situation an armed assailant does enter your home, you want to be able to see THEM first, instead of being a glow-in-the-dark bullseye looking for shadows. Not only that but you always want to be aware of, at "whom" and "where" you're shooting. Chances are an assailant's eyes have already adjusted to the darkness, so he will be able to see better than John "Homeowner", who just rolled out of bed. And let's face it... I seriously doubt they're going to turn the lights on for you.- Flag as inappropriate

The power of .45 A.C.P. in a GLOCK need not say more. The frame is a little thick for smaller hands so I recommend the GLOCK 21SF, with a bit smaller circumfirence in the grip.

I worked with a department that carried Smith & Wesson auto's and they were good for nothing more than boat anchors. The Glock is by far the best auto I've ever shot. No safety to forget, just pull and shoot, no question.

Our agency will be switching to the Glock 21SF this month. Our SWAT Team and some of the firearms instructor already have them. It's my opinion that this weapon shoots better than the Model 22 that we've carried for years. When gripping the weapon while holstered, I get the grip that I want each and every time.

G21SF, with Trijicon night sights ... most reliable COMBAT weapopn available for law enforcement. Been doing either military duty or active LEO for past 36 years, wished I'd have had this weapon sooner in life.

I bought this weapon, before I entered law enforcement. owned this weapon for 4 years and never had a jam or failure to fire. in my mind this is the best COP weapon out there and I wont be caught carrying anything else on duty.

I had used the 22 for 5 years prior to this gun. I did not know what to expect, having only fired 1 other .45 (Colt 1911). Who knew that a larger cal. gun seemingly would have less kick, or at least a different kick. To me, this seems to move more back as opposed to the pop I felt with the 22. Love it and glad to carry it.

Like they say. Glock perfection! .45 Caliber, large capacity. Good crisp trigger that is the same every time. Accurate as hell and reliable no matter what. Surprisingly the recoil isn't too bad for it being as light as it is. Low maintenance. Cheap. I have small hands and no problems with the standard grip.
The only con is that the grip can be a little slippery when wet.

Absolutely love this gun. I read some of the other reviews about the grip being too thick for them. The Gen 3 model is a little slimmer and the Gen 4 has an interchangable backstrap that allows grip sizing a little better. My Glock 21 never leaves my side. It is the most reliable gun I have ever shot and I have definitely put it through it's paces.

I read about a local department in oregon having 2 of these caliber glocks blow up on them. I own a Gen 1 Glock 21, 600 rounds put through it, never an issue. Maybe it was a newer Gen that had the issues? Anyways, fantastic gun!

Outstanding gun! Not for all shooters. Smaller hands might find it difficult to shoot, but the .40 cal is better for that and not much compermise for stopping power. I had my 45 for 15 years before it was authorized it to carry.

I have this one in the compensated and non-compensated models. Love both. Reliably feeds, shoots acurate and after swapping for 3.5 pound triggers and polishing all of the moving edges, they are a pleasure to shoot. I never have had to concern myslef with the reliability issue with these. As long as you have a medium to large hand this one is for you. If not then get the slim frame version. I use them with230 Grain Federal Tactical HST +P rounds and I would not trade them for a 1911 or a Springfield XD. Shot all 3 and do not like them as much as my Glocks
