- 1st review
I have carried the H&K USP .45 as my primary duty weapon for the past ten years. I am confident that my H&K .45 will function without fail in the most extreme circumstances. I have fired thousands of rounds through my H&K with no major malfunctions. With a good sight picture and smooth recoil, target acquisition is a snap. Being left handed, the ambidextrous magazine release really comes in handy. The safety/decocker can accommodate both right and left handed operators. Ten years ago I chose the H&K .45 for the simple reason that it looked great. Ten years later, I realize it was one of the best law enforcement decisions I ever made.

Probaly one of the most accurate production handguns ive seen in a .45 caliber, it is a solid weapon it has over a 4 inch barrel which makes it extremely accurate its kind of heavy but that is the only negative thing about it.

I too am, a southpaw! When I was in the academy, we were using the old .38 specials and it took me twice as long to load and unload, b/c I had to switch hands. Luckiily, where it count, I hit the targets either between the eyes or in the chest, so the attention was off me for a minute. I got sick of this though and went out and borrowed a friends H &K. I was afraid of it at first, but agree that it is easier to use than most weapons for left-handed people.

One of the finest weapons made in my opinion. Extremely accurate, good ergonomics, great mag capacity for a .45 cal. Come tax return time this will be my next purchase.

I have used the H&K USP.45 Tactical, for three years now. it is the best handgun that i have ever owned. It fires in any weather condition; dirty or not. I have never had a malfunction with this weapon and it is extremely accurate. I used to be a firm believer in the Glock until i picked up the H&K. Now I use the H&K .45 for a duty weapon and an H&K .40 (compact) as a backup/off duty weapon.

I have shot this pistol and it has a good feel to it, even with my small hands. Not so good for onehanded shooting for people with small hands. The only problem I have ever had with this is that it jams with factory target loads. It seems to like hot loads when shooting. Over all I love this pistol just as much as my good Ole 1911.

Great overall duty gun. 12 + 1 of .45acp, accurate, dependable and a tough finish, what's not to like. Well worth the money for personal purchase. Departments would be served well as a dept. issue gun.

Another lefty chiming in, I've carried a USP .45 since 1999. It is accurate, reliable, and comfortable to shoot. It is nice to have a gun that comes in a left-handed variant after years of adjusting to guns that were right hand only.

This weapon doesn't have malfuntions... only the operators that cause them. It just doesn't get any better than an HK .45! I conducted a Sig versus H&K combat/target shoot one time and a female target shooter took the prize operating a USP .45 V-1.

I've carried this gun for several years. It has never jammed on me and I've put a lot of rounds through it. I was considering switching to a Glock because of some problems with my consistancy of shot placement, but have made some adjustments to my shooting style and have brought it all together. Great gun even for the price!

H&K...nuff said. If you really need to know it is an accurate, reliable easy to point and shoot sidearm. Not as cheap as a glock (currently issued and forced to carry G23). I am a compact fan (8+1)..easy to conceal, and still super accurate and uber reliable. I am in the process of getting the HK45C (not the USP) and am currently the owner of the HK45 (again NOT THE USP). The HK45 and HK45C have FINALLY got the picatinnay rail system so that you can now choose and use whatever light/laser YOU want instead of buying a setup from HK (their civ setups didn't do much for me). I use the surefire x300 on my G23 when needed and on the HK45 again when needed. The ONLY downside I have found to the HK45C is that the trigger guard extends too long forward and makes accepting the x300 on the rails impossible.

I guess alot of my dislike with this weapon is that HK allowed our department to screw up a great thing. We were only allowed to carry "Variant 5" versions of this weapon. This makes them very uncomfortable to shoot. We carried these for 3 years and I couldn't wait to get rid of it. It weighs a ton too. I fired other HK's and have loved them but the though of a USP 45 makes me cringe.

Best gun I own. I started carrying it almost 10 years ago when the department first authorized it. I have never had a problem with it, except for the fact that it doesn't like the lightweight, Nancyboy load packed into the department's enviro-friendly practice ammo. In the field, however, it performs extremely well. The sight picture is easy to acquire, the weapon maintains a solid feel in the hand from the first round, through the 13th, and it is just a bad-ass gun overall. Not to mention the fact that I shoot better with it than I do the department-issued Beretta 92F.

I have carried a Glock all of my LEO Career (17 years) and have considered no other. I was at the range the other day and one of the firearms instructors had one of these and offered to let me shoot it. I fell in love with it. It feels good in the hand, I like the sight configuration and the recoil was minimal. As I too am a lefty, I liked the fact that the mag release and the decock were accessible. I have since shot another one for several hundred rounds and can't find a fault with it. I plan to purchase one as soon as I have the money. A wonderful pistol.

while in the Army hated the Browning 9mm. Bought my first and only USP 45 in 98 and never looked at anything else. Excellent weapon, acurate, smallest recoil and never lets you down. I shoot a Glock 19 at work for the State Department and when on leave I have to go and shoot a real pistol, MY USP 45. Just shoot it and you will never go back, but if you have small hands try another pistol with it.

An outstanding firearm, my departments side arm, only in the 9mm model. We also have the .45 for the SERT boys. I bought the .45 for myself. Downside very large handgun, and as said above mags seem to be on the higher side compared to other makers. One other complaint, the armors course is a little harder to get now that Blackwater has taken over.

H&K USP is a fine firearm. Quality is outstanding. Have fired the .45 but I do not own it. The grip is comfortable allowing for a tight and steady grip for those with large hands. Trigger pull is fluid, with a crisp break. Recoil is lighter than average for a .45 although the weapon did seem to have a slight touch of muzzle flip when compared to the Smith S&P .45.

The H&K .45 is a superior weapon. I just purchased mine about a year ago and it out perform any .45 I have ever shot. I know that I can count on this at any moment without any problems surfacing.

hands down the best .45 i have fired! 1911 based design and the base model for the H&K MK23. smooth action, can be carried cocked and locked, double stacked mag for extra round capacity. well worth the $900 non-department price tag!

It's big and reliable. I've shot several different hollow points and regular ball ammo with no jams or stove pipes. It's muzzle flip is minimized by the design of the recoil spring. The trigger is smooth as hell. Love mine. I've got the variant w/the safety, decocker option with the hammer.Got it used for 475 two years ago. Mags are high but everything is now.

Have heard only good reports on these, otherwise guess the SEALS wouldn't have picked them....but there is some interesting stuff on a website I found that refutes that they may not
be best choice if you're getting into some really dirty situations. This link is a torture test (more
than I have ever seen anyone put something through) of a Glock, but he did some alongside
comparison with a H&K USP Compact and after seeing this, I probably wouldn't buy one. Nothing at all against them as this is probably most extreme test you could put something
through and anyone knows that you keep your duty arms clean and inspected, but if you had
to chase someone down through a creek into the mud...it may fail...

This was my duty weapon at a previous Department. This is one of the finest operating pistols that I have ever shot. The accuracy and reliablility is unbelievable.

Have used it since 2005. Good quality. Cost as much too order it left handed as to add night sights. My only complaint is the double action trigger pull is way too long and heavy.

I use tis weapon with a H&K UTL as my on duty carry weapon it is an agency issue. I am a big guy and I like big guns. This is an accurate weapon when used correctly and is very reliable. We also have the choice to carry a Glock 45 or a Springfield XD 45, while both are great systems, I still prefer my H&K.

I don't really like USPs but in a .45, for some reason, they're awsome.

the usp is reliable, and can be easily customized to fit any situation. it is powerful, accurate, simple, and will encourage its user just by holding it :D but the colt m1911 .45 ESX series is better :D its just not an option :D the USP is my second fav!

One of the best firearms I have ever owned/used. I have been issued everything from Berretta 9mm's to Kimber 1911's, and I would have to say that the USP especially in 45ACP is one of the top sidearms I have used.

Have carried Glock, Kimber, USP .40 and for the last 4 years the USP .45. Have never had a malfuction in many thousand of rounds. Has withstood all I can throw at it and is by far the most durable duty weapon I have carried.

love this one I have the .40 indestructible, head shots all day long when you buy op for night sights and threaded barrel cause no one has the sight tool cause they only know how to work on glocks and you will end up putting on with brass punch, and you will be looking to put on a can even if you don't think you will you will so save the extra bucks in the long run. Comes with 13rnders get the 16rnders with funnel too.
