    1st review

I just recently got one these. It was a replacement for my 2003 model. They have a LOT more power and handle a lot better. They seem to be a little roomier as well. They come factory with Pirelli tires which unfortunately my department will not use for replacements. Right now I am very happy with the car.

Prefer the Dodge, then Crown Vic, then Impala, then Jeep, then Durango, and soooo on.

i currently have a 2007 model as my take-home car...
some pros: good fuel ecomomy, good turn radius, better power to weight ratio than the pre 2006 models...
cons: still under powered, large officers have difficulty getting in and out, 2007 model does not have a key access for trunk...dead battery means can't access trunk (where i keep my jumper cables), steering gets mushy at speeds above 120 mph, rear tires have EXCESSSIVE WEAR due to excessive toe in (went through first set of tires in only 9000 miles...rear tires were worn down to steel belts.

I now have the '08 model, after my '07 was totalled. They '08 actually has a keyhole in the trunk. I've seen speeds up to 138 mph, and think that it might be able to go faster, but I'm not trying it. The front wheel drive is definitely better in the snow, too. I love the Crown Vic and Charger, but the new Impala should not be overlooked.

Not a bad car. I like the interior setup. However this is not ment to be a pursuit vehicle. I've had mine for almost 2 years and it makes me long for my 'ol 1997 Crown Vic. Even on it's last legs my '97 ran circles around the '05 Chevys. Thankfully my agency has realized it's error and is going back to the Crown Vics.

These are a pretty nice car, we got a whole new fleet of them traded up with our old cars. They handle really well and have plenty of power when you need it.

I recently got an 08 which replaced my 05. Big difference in acceleration. It corners great on curvy roads. Only problem is the same as most, if you somehow lock the door you have to unlock it before you pull the handle.

These cars seem to e getting better each year, but they do not seem to last as long as the crown vic, we are have had problems with brakes at 12k and the heads seem to be going at 80k in the 06's

The main difference is that the streering wheel sits square on the drivers seat. The past models the steering wheel was off center by 3 inches. The increase in motor size is not noticeable as it only went up from a 3800 to a 3900. The hadeling is still the same from the previous models.

I too just recently got the 08 after replacing for my 2003 model. They have a little more power and handle a lot better. The rear end sits alot higher than earlier models, but it seems to have a little more room.

I drive the 2008 model also, but have encountered a few problems. first off let me say that I work for a small dept. of 10 officers and a town to match. The 08 Impala looks nice and drives good, with plenty of power. after putting some mileage on the car i noticed some minor rattles that i have gotten used to already. The A/C clutch was defective and had to be fixed right away. The fuel pump just went out and it is currently in the shop. Other than a couple of otherminor annoyances, the car is ok to drive. The best feature is the comfort compared to other cars I have driven. Overall, I give this car a 3 star rating out of 5.

I have not been happy with the brakes and traction/stability of the newer model Impala. I'd def take a CV if were up to me.

I drive a 2006 Impala and couldn't be happier! The room in it is unreal and the silence during travel is great comfort too. I have heard the saying, "drives like a Caddi" but this superceeds far! I also have a personal 2002 model and the gas mileage is wonderful.

Good car. A lot better than the older models. Chevy def. made some improvements. Power is better but still under powered. Prefer the vic but if I had to choose another cruiser it would be the Impala.

I've had 6 Impalas over the course of my career. I've only liked 2 of them, an '04, and my current '06. I am not a Chevy fan by any means, but my only complaints with the '06 and newer is limited hip/duty belt room and no key access to the trunk. If that's where you keep your jumper cables, you're screwed when your battery dies. Oh, and duplicate keys (in case the remote dies) will run you upwards of $90 a piece! Otherwise, its got a great top end for an underpowered V6! Mine shuts down at about 143. I can outrun the Undersheriff in his CVPI, and almost keep up with the sheriff in his Charger! lol

I was a proud fan of the vic, but ovr the years, Chevrolet has improved on the Impalas. On the Highway, you can't beat the vic or charger. As for municipal jobs, the Impala has a tight cornering ability and stabilization for taking the city turns. My unit is unmarked and I wouldn't trade it even for a vic here.

Well i'm in a Chevy product, and while very worried about the front wheel drive and small interior at first. The car has out performed all of my Crown Vic's put together. Yes it's small inside, but as far as get up and go and top end (144 mph) just the other night. The car is great to drive, and the guts to prove it. I have 11, 587 mile so far not a problem!!

I've always been an impala fan. I am still trying to figure out though why they havn't taken the V8 model and produced a police package for that model. My department has two 08's right now. One two a detective and one we just got in that hasn't been set up with equipment yet. Wondering if they are going to mark it up for patrol.
