I have always been a little worrysome about carry a holster with any signifigant retention. I spent a very long time going through a lot of paddle holsters for off duty use, as I carry where ever I go. I purchased the this holster and could not be happier. I use the paddle with this and like it because it comes with features which allows the holster to remain secure and not move at all. The finger release on the side is very reliable and haven't found any problems of when I draw the finger going "into" the trigger port. It actually positions the trigger finger almost exactly where it needs to be following the "Finger off the trigger rule."
I have had people test the ability to remove the weapon from the holster or even get the entire paddle off my belt, and have not seen anything that concerns me. I actually have difficultly simply removing the paddle from my belt at times because it is so secure to my belt. There is also no problems of the weapon accidently coming out of the holster when running which is due to the SERPA feature. Lastly, it does not stick out as far when carrying concealed off duty, which is always a plus.- Flag as inappropriate

I have purchased too many holsters in my time that have fallen entirely short when it comes to form and function. After purchasing this holster for my FN five-seven and carrying it for over a year in this rig, I purchased one for every other pistol I own....which means I have a lot of them! I LOVE this holster and so will you.

Best CID/off-duty holster to have. Love it and am about ready for another as I have torn mine up pretty good. I would not recommend getting the one with the carbon fiber look. That one only has some plastic like material attached to it which tears really bad.

I have the thigh set up with mag attachment and cant say enough about it. The draw is easy and right there. Stays with you on the run, and attaches right to my regular patrol gear. If your going hands on the gun drops in with out effort.

Unless you get on the range and really spend a concerted amount of time drawing your weapon, you may miss the draw when necessary. I had one. I invested in a tactical pistol course for the heck of it using this holster. It took quite a number of draws for it to become just one step closer to muscle memory. You gotta practice a lot with this one.

I’ve utilize it both for on duty and off duty, its a great holster for smooth draw and great retention. I got the duty holster first and loved it so much I got the concealment for off-duty and when I work a plain cloths bodyguard detail. I had the fobus concealment holster and was dissatisfied with it performance and was unable to smoothly draw from it.

Good holsters, except we are finding out the hard way here in Iraq that if dirt gets in the release button you are screwed it is almost impossible to get your pistol out! But they hold up very well !
by the way its the thig holster that we are having problems with. Other than that i have 2 of these same holsters at home and they are awsome.- Flag as inappropriate

Great holster, use it to carry when not on a mission. IT is essential to keep it clean, as it will make it difficult to draw when needed most. Conceals well under the duty unifrom (if your not a fat body).

Great holster for officers in an administrative position or for training bureau officers that wear their firearm exposed. I have worn my Glock in this holster while off-duty, but the weapon tends to stick out a bit more than I would like for off-duty carry. Pancake-type concealment holsters or in-the-pants hosters work better for concealment. I like the retention system, and it is very confortable for all day carry.

This is a GREAT holster. With either the belt slide or the paddle attached it is very secure and once you get a little practiced on the draw they are very fast and reliable. I'm hard on equipment and don't usually rate very high but these holsters are great for off duty or plain clothes asignments.

As an investigator, my department issues a different holster than this one. The issued holster is far more complicated to draw from. I actually purchased this holster on my own, which proved to be the best law enforcement investment I've made in a long time. It allows you to smoothly draw your weapon, is VERY light, and durable. It also can be worn with a dress suit for investigators.

We tried this holster out in the level III for duty use and got one from the Blackhawk sales representative. We put a Sig p229 DAK in the holster and could not get it out. It was the correct model and make for that gun. We had to take the holster apart to get the gun out. Blackhawk replaced the test holster for evaluation. The representative said some guy at the factory screwed it up in the process of making it. Needless to say the first impression had an impact on our department's choice of duty holster. That being said I do have 3 of this model I use with my P220, P229R and 1911 Reveloution. They work fine, however I did check them over really well before putting them into service, practice religiously and put time in on the range with them.

When I worked armed security, I chose my Spriendfield XD .45 Tactical. Unless I wanted to pay over $100 for a holster, the only other option was an Uncle Mikes Universal nylon one. I bought a serpa holster for the XD and I haven't been dissapointed. You can adjust the holster so that it cants forward to your preference, this helps a lot, especially if you ever want to draw while sitting down and it helps greatly for weapons retention.
Although the holster fit a bit loose, a few adjustments with a heat gun and it molded into a tight fit.

Once you trasition and become familiar with this holster as opposed to a thumb break holster the draw stroke seems more fluid. but if you rush it you will have problems. It takes some good reps to be comfortable with. If you get one watch the screw below the release when it backs out the holster still works but it holds a small tensioning piece and the pistol will rattle around. In the drop leg set up that makes a hell of alot of noise. Heard some people talking about the release locking up in dusty environments. Been in Baghdad for a few months now and have had no problems with it. Definately would spend my own money on it.

This is by far the BEST holster I have used in 21-years. I use this for my off-duty Glcok 26. It comes with both a belt loop and paddle option. The weapon locks in perfectly, and with a swift touch of the release with your trigger finger the weapon comes out smoothly placing your finger right on top of the trigger or trigger guard. Get this if your tired of hard to remove weapon holsters or thumb snaps.

I have the dropleg & I have the chest rig for molle straps...great for drivers as a drop leg is not optimal while driving. The push button on these holsters leaves your trigger finger exactly where it needs to be, right outside the trigger well. I've heard some say that the spring in the release button goes bad but I've had both of mine for over a yr & a half with daily use & no issues.

The Serpa is a poorly designed but well marketed holster that has a user to press in with the finger tip as they draw their pistol.
Some times the finger ends up right on the trigger pressing inward well before it would be safe to do.
I have also seen seasoned operators unable to draw from a Serpa holster under stress. I have also seen debris accumulate under the release button and "lock" the holster.

I love mine, I agree with sarge in that you do have to practice your draw with this holster but it becomes second nature. Some of the older guys (no offense Sarge) are not used to the new stuff and fine with the old school strap and are probably better off staying with it. But I purchased this holster practiced my draw with an unloaded weapon, adjusting tention and so on. i had to draw under stress the third day of owner ship and was out and focused faster than everyone on the scene. Re-holstering is great and easy while making an arrest

I swore by my Bianchi paddle lock until I went to my DT instructor recert. I was in my duty gear and weapon retention (was stressful folks) told me that the paddle lock, that I normally would wear, could be removed from me. So I needed a holster that would stay on my belt and was secure. A thumb snap was easy to release and the weapon could be removed so that was out. This is the one. It's durable, gives the protection needed, and secures to my belt for weapon retention safety. I am very happy with this holster and recommend it highly. Peace, Ice

This is my off duty holster and I really like it. Great compliment to the Serpa Level 3 which is my duty holster and the one I recommend to all of my trainees and coworkers.

I just got three of these holsters... one each for my .45's and one for the .40. I like the way they ride and the ease of draw they present.

I use this holster for my Sig P228 for regular carry and cannot find a single bad thing to say about it. I have on order in the duty configuration and can't wait to get it and use it. I intend to get one for my Glock as well and now that I see they came out with one, for the Smith J-frame.
