This shotgun is almost dummy proof. Very few fine motor skills required and it is SEMI AUTOMATIC meaning, the lead continues to fly as fast as you can pull the trigger. We have these in every cruiser.

There are some many extras you can add to this weapon. It look's pretty sweet when its tricked out.

VERY nice shotgun. It is a little long for tactical purposes (urban environment) but kicks azz none the less. Rifle sights, pistol grip, light, side saddle, good sling (MOUT single-point attachment) and you are ready to rock. I do prefer our older 870's, with a 16" barrel and pistol grip for tactical situations, but the 1187 is overall better.

This shotgun is easy to handle and operate, on the lightweight side also.

Simple (just like me) to operate, reliable (just like street dummies whackin' crack) to a fault... but in my humiliated opinion, spare the tricking-out of this tool: ghost-ring sights and side-saddle shell carriers and tactical ("Mamba") slings: they get in the way (reach in your pocket for more ammo - faster than unshouldering and pushing shells up out of their carrier. And, unless your Department mandates tactical use of slugs, no reason for sights: this is a point-'n'-shoot in LE, there's no 'spray-'n'-pray) that also works great as a close-in defense-device (e.g., a club) it isn't all tricked out.

I love this one with the 14 inch barrel, works great for clearing a house. plus no recoil even with hollow point slugs.

A great weapon for putting out the fire power and the rifled sights are a nice touch. Mount a couple side saddles plus a strap that holds shells and watch out. Be careful not to use LE Low Recoil Shells however or you will have jams...

Great shotgun. Mine has fired probably more than 5000 rounds from clay, contest and target shootng and still works great. It feeds anything I've thrown at it, including 00, 000, breeching rounds, rifled slugs and even 7/8oz light charge reloads that I didn't even think would cycle the action. Cleaning is a little tedious but even if you don't have time for a full breakdown, just a little Rem-oil or Pro-shot on the slide and feeding mechanism will keep you in business. Just make sure the ejector claw area gets a couple drops after each use otherwise a shell could hang up at an an inopportune moment. That is the only reason this gun doesn't get 5 stars. This shotgun absorbs a great deal of recoil so even the heavy/hot loads arent bad on the shoulder at all.

I shot one at the PPC Nationals in New Mexico last year and took 6th overall. I loved it so much I bought one! Recoil is very manageable and accuracy is excellent.
