The Five-seveN pistol was designed by FN company (Belgium) as a complimentary sidearm for the P90 submachine-gun. The P90 and Five-seveN share the same ammunition, the 5.7x28mm SS190 cartridge. The SS190 ammunition looks like scaled down 5.56mm NATO round and boosts the 2.02 gramm (31 grains) pointed steel and alluminium core bullet to the muzzle velocity of 650 meters per second (ca. 2130 fps) from the pistol barrel. The key idea behind that ammunition and weapons is to provide good penetration against personnel, protected by modern body armour, while keeping weapons' weight, dimensions and recoil at the reasonable levels. The Five-seveN is a delayed blowback operated, semi-automatic firearm. It featured polymer frame with underbarrel acessory rail. The gun is available in two versions: Five-seveN standard, intended mostly for military users, and Five-seveN Tactical, intended mostly for Law Enforcement users who carry handguns as a primary weapons. The only difference between Standart and Tactical models is in the trigger type: the Five-seveN standard features Double Action Only trigger with long trigger pull and no external safeties; The Five-seveN Tactical featured Single Action trigger with short and light trigger pull and ambidextrous safety switch, located on the frame above the trigger. Both variants are striker fired, with internal firing pin safety. The sights are fixed, with optional night sights (with luminous dots inserts) available. The Five-seveN is advertised as being capable to penetrate standart PAGST vest at 300 meters and standart CRISAT (kevlar + titanium) vest at 100 meters. The Five-seveN is available from FN for government or law enforcement sales only.

I work in the Northern California oilfields and spend alot of time in rural areas and I do alot of varmit shooting and I've put @ 400 rounds thru my Five-seveN IOM and I love it wife can handle it and I've even put down a squirrel @ 75 yard's ...extreamly accurate and easy to control, a little on the spendy side at $1000.00 but well worth the money! bulk ammunition, cause they dont carry 5.7x28mm at your local wal-mart if you know what I mean.

Had the opportunity to shoot one these at a local range. Lighter recoil than I expected. Sweet shooting & handling. If my agency had a lesser issued f/a than we do now, I would buy this one for my daily use.

I purchased the Tactical version this pistol and cannot believe how light it is, even with a full 20 round magazine. I have qualified with this weapon for off-duty carry and it is accurate. There is no noticable recoil and stays on target under rapid fire conditions. The only drawback to this is the high price.

I am assigned to a DEA task Force in the city and we had put one in service that I had seized from a bad guy.

I have to tell you that I love this gun! The only drawback is that finding any type of duty gear is next to impossible. I had found a Blackhawk SERPA holster on eBay that I am pretty impressed with but trying to find a dual magazine pouch to match that doesn't cost an arm and a leg is not easy.

Blade-tech has one but due to the Five Seven's almost non-existence you will end up paying 52.00 for it and another 16.00 for shipping. Try finding rounds for this bad boy and you hit another stumbling block, I have seen the same rounds going for 16.99 to 40.99 a box. Same rounds!

Other than that I have to tell you this is one of the smoothest guns I ever shot. Truly easy to fire and qualify with at the range. A little bulky for small handed shooters but for us bear pawed guys and gals it's a favorite!

Accuracy is absolutely awesome, the groupings I get from this are textbook! The safety positioning was well thought out, and the accessory rail fits my surefire perfectly.

I seriously can't believe that this thing didn't take off bigger that it has.

Originally made for the military but more than superior for Law Enforcement.

Any more questions feel free to E-Mail me.

    That's all Folks!

Can't wait to get mine. I think it will be my Christmas present to myself. You can never have enough guns.

Has anyone heard of it being used in a fight or the results? I shot one that a friend has and it was pretty cool. I'm interersted in seeing how it works out on "the street".

My buddy had one and showed me some pics of him shooting an old soda machine and the holes were huge.... according to the literature it will penetrate body armor at 300 meters... has anyone tried it.. This is the weapon you don't want your local bad guy to get his hands on....
