Just an opinion....but "verbal Judo" was a way for someone to get money, credit, or kudos for coining a phrase to describe something that we had been doing for years.

I wanted to stab my pen in my ears in this class but its saved my butt plenty of times so I can't complain.

This is a great training aid. It helps me conduct better interviews that ultimately lead to better cases. Highly recommended for anyone deals with the public such as Police, fore and EMS.

It helps the youngens to use their mouth and brain, something we old timers do by instinct, grappling and the like just doesn't hold the same thrill these days. :-]

verbal judo does work

Has only failed me a few times...mostly when I try it on my wife and she knows what I am doing. I saw something on a TV show a while back called "wifeaway" That seems to work better for me.

Whooshaaa.... This "system" explains what works & why....

This is a great training tool as an FTO. It provides a structured, tactical traffic stop and interview process for confronting people on the street. It articulates your use of force and even helps avoid it. Woosha!

I'm rather proud of the fact that in Nine years on the job in both Corrections and Law Enforcement I can count on one hand the times I've had to wrestle and fight with a subject. I credit this sucess to the verbal skills I learned to develop after be instructed in Verbal Judo. This training and the skills it allowed me to use may be nothing new, but without the organized presentation and the manner in which it was presented I would have had to learn these lessons the hard way.

Behind closed doors we call it "Gerbil Voodoo." Like many others have already stated, it's just an "official" phrase, and now mandatory course, for something we already did on the streets.

I think what it really should be called is ....Product :" How to speak to the scumbags without making them so upset that they make a Civilian Complaint ......Judo " Manufacturer: Liberals / Category: Nonsense / Price: Your Soul / Details: When there is nothing ese to use , Taze Em'.

Sounds like a great class to teach you to talk to someone. Wait, isn't that what we were suspossed to be doing all this time?

It was an okay class if the instructor I had would have not added his own touches to it and stuck with the original book it would have been a whole lot better. I just took this training about a month ago.

Total waste of my time! Like others here have said, this is stuff most of us do every day on the street, we just didn't have a fancy name for it! I learned nothing in this class that I already didn't know!

So not worth the hype! I prefer a good ole fashioned verbal a** whippin!!!

I hated it!!! It was one of the worst classes I have ever been sent to. The class might have been useful but the Officer teaching it started the class by informing us that the only reason he became a Officer was to prove that his friend who was "unjustly killed" by a cop could have been saved…. if only that cop only had a class like this, he might not have “had to shoot his poor innocent (ARMED) friend”. Unfortunately some time thereafter he stated to drone....

This stuff works. I had this course a while back and no sooner than I got home, I got pulled over by a state trooper who used it. I can't believe it, even being trained in Verbal Judo, when it was used on me it still worked. A must for everybody.

With good wits, you can outsmart anyone. Or at least get them caught up in their lie!
