This is the mother of all rifles. If you can't take your target out with this, you need explosives. This would not be my choice in an urban setting, however. It just carries too much power. It would be great against moving vehicles (kill the engine block), or anything past 500 yards.

This is artillary. Unless you are targeting vehicles at significant ranges it is a little bit too much rifle. On the other hand, military applications are wide open. With ranges like this thing can handle you are almost never in a position where you can't reach a target. Firepower is never to be taken for granted.

In real time this weapon is bar none one of Ronny Barrett's finest designs. Although the acuracy in the personnel target is a little short (300m) and the material target is closer to 2400m on a real good day. True and tried in Afghanastan and in Iraq by a select few trained hands. Even though this is the predicessor to the M82A1 and the fraternal twin to the M107CQB(the Shorter Version) it still holds a quality only Barrett Firearms can manufature and standby.

If you have to have somrthing to take-em out--THIS would be my choice!

Umm HELL YEAH! I never had a chance to fire this weapon but did get to fire the brother to it. The .50 cal Machine gun invented/perfected before the 1st world war was over by Browning

When it has to be done right the first time.....nothing but mist!!

PRO'S: Superior firepower, great penetration, can defeat light armor, semi-auto for fast back on target situations, intimidation factor is high.

Con's: Expensive, Very heavy, Scares the crap out of John Q Citizen.

yes reach out and touch someone

It's a bear to carry at 29 lbs. unloaded but when you need penetration to stop a vehicle or punch through brick or concrete walls this is the go to tool. The .50 caliber round stays supersonic past one mile and packs an awful lot of downrange energy so law enforcement have to be cognizant of that fact when utilizing a weapon of this type. But if they need it to kill engine blocks or penetrate thin skinned armored vehicles at 1000 meters this is weapon for them.

Holy Dear jesus... Thank you for creating such a beautiful tool of destruction. I believe it treason to let my finger touch the trigger of another long range rifle as long as i live. I recommend this to anyone wanting to feel the power of God's hand reaching out to touch someone!

I love sniper rifles and this is my favorite gun. I think that snipers are the most bad ass of all.

I was actually shocked at the type of recoil this rifle had. The first time I fired one I had a misfire (bad primer) and I jumped when I pulled the trigger expecting a kick from a mule. Everyone had a big laugh. Once I shot it was surprised at how it "jumped" more than kicked. The Iraqis really really really hate this thing they all gave it no star rating.................

as a former marine corp sniper i love the barrett 50 single shot it's an excellent weapon

I have owned an Armilite 50,great gun but there is no comparision to the Barrett

family member has one and whenever im around it im happy ahaha soo awesome
