these were a great group of men i had a chance meeting with two men who were there and i salute these men who had to deal with the situation

The true Spirit of the American Soldier shines brightly throughout this book. Despite overwhelming odds and horrendous firefights these brave soldiers represent the absolute best in any military organization anywhere in the world. A tough book to read because of the heartbreaking things that they endure, but almost impossible to put down once you start to read it.

Great book. Recommend it to everyone.

If it's like the movie I'd say it is off in it's factual information. The person that wrote it had a different perspective then I did from the experience.

Entertaining, informative, stimulating, and has alot of "STUFF" that sticks with your memory....

Great book, awesome movie

Great book, great movie. I have the hard cover edition autographed by then LTC Gary L Harrell. He later went on to be my boss at US Central Command as a Colonel, then a Brigadier General. I recently attended his retirement at Ft. Bragg where he was Magor General Harrell. We've become great friends over the years. He also performed my retirement at MacDill AFB in Dec 2007. Great story, great guy. His photos are on my profile.

Enjoy watching the movie every few months. Makes me appreciate what our troops went through then and are going through now!

I read this book a few years before the movie came out. I'm a slow reader and usually it takes me a few weeks to a few months to get through a book. Started this book before going to bed and didn't stop until I finished it. I hell of a book about REAL AMERICAN HERO'S. Never forget / Never forgotten... God Bless America!

great book really tells a lot about what combat is like, I think it was better than the movie

No punches were pulled in this book. Mistakes were made by our troops and they paid for them in blood. It also shows the thought processes of our leaders by taking an obvious winning of the battle and then having our troops withdrawn. The rules of engagement were ridiculous, but, that is par for a peace keeping force working with the UN. The bravery of our troops is indisputable and can never be tarnished.

Never read the book, but I have the movie and have seen it several times. Excellent movie, God Bless our soldiers!

Movie was great but the book is better

I read this a few years ago. I was rivieted to the book and felt the intensity of the fight these guys were forced to engage. I knew some guys who had been there and this was as intense as their stories too.

An excellent read for all, good lessons learned on being prepared for anything.

AWESOME BOOK

A very good book that tells the story for both side and does not make you feel like either side is wrong. It also gives a good look at the leadership of the operation and you can see where it fells and where it is the common brotherhood of our armed forces

This book is a type book that you cant put down. It is thorough, accurate and shows the honor and integrity of all warriors involved in this event. It is a tribute to the professionalism of the delta, special forces, rangers, and pilots.

Great read, should be required reading at most leadership schools.
