I do not believe it is one of Wambaugh best.. I like "Delta Star" a lot better, but you never hear about it.

A Wambaugh classic. Anybody who has worked patrol will immediately bond with the Cops in this book. It contains all of the raw courage, humor, grittiness and pathos that are the solid basis for all Wambaugh police books. I recommend this one completely.

Excellant book which provides a comical view of policing.

A story about cops that everyone of us has worked with.

Well written book

I enjoyed this book MANY years ago (back when most patrol cars still used rotating bubble lights) and pick it up now and then just for grins. Although much of the book, written tongue in cheek, certainly hits on some realistic events, there is a smattering of sensationalism for dramatic effect. It's just a 'fun' book that is funny to read. Enjoy it, keeping in mind that it was written as entertainment.

This is a must read for anyone in the law enforcement community or thinking about getting into the law enforcement community. Well written and flat out the truth.

We all have worked with everybody in this book at some time in our careers. Because Wambaugh was with LAPD he knows how police officers think.

This book is probably my favorite book about cops I have ever read. The Onion Field is also a good one.

This was the first book on crime that i ever read. Loved it and it gave me a better understanding of how things work...

My first book that I read on law enforcement, still try to have our own version of choir practice.

Wambaugh writing may be dated but hey hit the mark every time.

Awesome book

Another Wambaugh classic! Truly strikes a nerve.

It is a wonderful fictional account of Police work. Although fiction we can still see many truths in it pages. We can all identify or be identified as one of the characters in this humorus, serious collection of the life of Patrol. The gallows humor, everyday people we see in our travels of the beat, if we cannot laugh at ourselves, a very big part of life is lost.

Made me laugh and cry great book

I read this book many years ago and will read it again for about the fifth time. Great book, great writer.

I read this several years ago and it was hilarious. However I seen so many things in this book that happens in real life. The choir practices we had when I was a deputy for Richland County Sheriff Department.
