Priority Dispatch EMD Cardset

Priority Dispatch
Category: Technology & Software
Subcategory: Dispatch / Communications Equipment
Average Rating:
(24 Votes)

The cardset delivers the medical protocol in a durable, 18" x10" flip-file format with individual protective card pockets. The cardset allows dispatchers to quickly move through Case Entry and Key Questioning. Determinants clearly display the response configuration specifically assigned to the code by local agency authorities. Additional information, pre-arrival and post-dispatch instruction cards are clearly linked and easy to access, as well as important case completion and DLS information.

Very well organzied, easy to navigate; however, their ProQA software application is easier to use!

Confusing, antiquated, slow and look out if you lose your place! I also hear that the software is awesome and know it's cost at approx $15K. I'd say, if you do a lot of EMD calls... it's worth it!

I don't get to use these as often as other EMD dispatchers because we transfer most of our medical calls to another agency for EMS. I think if I were more familiar with the cardset then I could use them easier but so far, I am a little clumsy. Despite being EMD certified for over 3 years. =D

This is what our center uses since Jan 1 08. Working hard on getting the software version looks like that won't happen until 2009. If you have any problems I know a salesman and an instructor lives here in poughkeepsie. Both are great guys.

Many people have different perspectives about these cards. I don't believe them to be antiquated like someone said, or i don't believe them to be slow, that depends on the efficiency of the call taker. I also don't believe it's hard to find my place if i lose it. It's not like it's a book and all black and white. They're a great resource and I've taken a large number of calls using these, never had a problem. I do agree that the software is better.

Cards are hard to follow if you don't know what you're doing but makes the liability issues virtually disappear when used properly and has aided in life saving!

I am still learning to use the cards. I like them better than the software right now. It is helpful and has been used frequently by our agency to save lives. I am glad we have this tool at our disposal.

I've used the card set and the version on the computer, and my favorite is the computer version, easy to navigate through that, no flipping cards...

I only have one complaint about these cards and it is the cpr instructions. I liked it a lot better when there was not the option for ventilations first or compressions first. However with the amount of people the have for advisors on making these cards work right there must be a reason for it. I have never had the computerized option of these but would love to try it someday.

Using these cards has been very easy, once you figure out the chief complaint. It's self explanatory from there IF you know what your doing. Pro Q&A for this is good to, but again, you have to know what your doing. I prefer the computer version vs the cardset.

coming from a dispatch center that had no emd for many years.. .this was hard to get used to-- using a scripted method of dispatch.-- our fire agencies decided to go c3 to everything so we don't use the determinant codes. Makes it hard to feel like it does any good unless you are giving cpr /birth /choking /hemorraging instructions. ---I would probably get more out of it if using it the way it was meant to be used ....

I hate these cards. I wish we could get the computer version. They are not easy to follow and it is just too slow to use.
