I rate this as a 4 because I really don't see it as being a good police gun, but it was a good gun for the era in which Sergei Moisin and Leon Nagant had designed it for. The Carbine you see here is the last varient of Russia's 1st mass issue repeating rifle the M1891 Moisin-Nagant. The Mosin-Nagant series of rifles is of reasonable accuracy, power and range. Perhaps the biggest drawback is that it fires a rimmed cartridge like that of most revolvers. The Russian Moisin-Nagant series goes, the M1891, the M91/30, the M38 and the M44 (as seen here). There were a few converted models that were redone by the Finnish Military during the Winter War and the Continuation Wars before and during WWII. The Finnish ones are said to have improoved accuracy and the latest model, the M39, bears a Nagant action, but from the reciever ring up it resemble the Swiss K-31. I can only recall 2 finn models The M28 and the M39. The Moisin-Nagant is possible one of the most robust bolt action rifles in the world and it's been said on the History channel that the operator of the rifle can fire it as long as he still has the strength to work the bolt. The model seen here is based off of the M38 but it had an attached folding spike bayonet which is illegal to use in combat under the Geneva Convention. Carbines of the Moisin Nagant are said to kick like a mule....so heads up.

Bought it for like $50 at the local sporting goods store, shot about $200 of ammo through it. Not the best of guns, but it’s loud and looks menacing especially with the bayonet out. Definitely a talking point at the range, got to love it. And if you ever run out of ammo, you can always use it as a mini spear, Hell Ya!

You can't beat a reliable, accurate, accurate and very deadly weapon for under $100.

I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with mine, but it was cheap and the bullets isn't to shabby.

Best thing about this Rifle, is the ammo is so cheap. You can buy crates of 880 rounds for $169 from Sportsmans Guide and have one hell of a day at the range. I love mine, have a 4x10 scope and a bi-pod on it.
And boy does that round pack a punch, I think I have torn more holes in a side of a hill then a shovel has.- Flag as inappropriate

this is my favorite rifle to shoot. It is just amazing. it is so loud!!! the recoil beats any other gun I have ever shot. It has more kick then the Springfield 1903. It is cheap to fire, cheap to buy, and is so powerful. You can take down bears with this gun. Very reliable, very good. I really love the bayonet on this gun to. It is always on the gun. I'm buying it off my friend for 75 bucks!!!
