| Description: | The HRT Magnesium comes with a 3.525", clip point blade made of 440 C Stainless Steel. It incorporates two dual-purpose blade guards into its design; not only do they prevent slippage, but they can be used as a "flipper" to rapidly open the blade. Aggressively checkered dual thumb-studs also act as blade stops, while thumb ramp serrations allow for precision control during delicate cutting. The injection molded handles smoothly flow and swell into a user-friendly shape that is both comfortable and lightweight. A removable stainless steel pocket clip is included with each knife. |

Very sharp knife, including the serrated portion. I've used the serrated portion to cut plastic bumpers hanging on by a couple of bolts at accident scenes, with no problems. The only hang-up is the blade stop screw; it has a tendency to work itself loose, and there is no other way to tighten it except by hand. If you lose the blade stop screw, the blade hyper-extends and doesn't lock open. Other than that, it's a pretty good little knife.

Sharpness is no indication of a good knife. And while many S&W knives teeter on the edge of acceptability, some knives, like the Magnesiums and Extreme Ops Hawkbills, are outstanding bargains. The first of the Magnesiums were made in the R.O.C. and made to sell for close to a hundred dollars. They had decent quality 440C blades and outstanding construction. The first of these had real magnesium handles, not injection molding. I can say the ones I have are incredible bargains for the prices I got them for. Even if they're made in China, these knives should be more than acceptable. They certainly are better than Boker's Magnum series and other junk knives. Some are better than others, and these are on the higher end.
