If you want an affordable, quality tactical light, the folks at Streamlight offer it in their TLR series lights. I wanted a cheap "hands-free" light option while I was clearing buildings or involved in high-risk situations at night. I found it with the the TLR-1 by Streamlight. I chose not to go with the light/laser sister of the TLR-1, the TLR-2, as I found that with the laser I tended to put too much emphasis on the laser and found that I was actually less accurate in my shots. I found that simply having the light allowed me to stay on my front sight and I my accuracy during low light operations improved about 200%. The light is cheap, effective, and durable. The biggest shock you'll get is when you go to replace your holster with a tactical light carrying option. Ouch! I gave it four stars instead of five only because I still think the Surefire X300 is a better light, but it costs about $125 more for relatively the same functionality. Just my two cents. Stay safe!

I love it! I work a lot of night hours and clearing buildings is much easier. Without this you need a hand for weapon, a hand for light and another hand for doors. An excellent way to enhance safety for nighttime ops. Takes a little effort to find an adequate holster, but definitely worth the effort.

I'm a Narcotic Investigator with the Corpus Christi Police Department. The best thing they issued to us was the Streamlight for our Glock 22. A match made in heaven. Together they make shooting at night a pleasure. Before, it was a nightmare trying to hold the spot of light, from the flashlight, on your target. Usually mine was pointing down. It was a must when I went to SWAT. Get a duty holster made to accomodate your weapon with light on and you'll be in heaven when s...t hits the fan, it's dark and you have to break leather.

I have the TRL II, which has the laser built in also. This the best and brightest weapon light that I have used. I have had several in the past, but this holds up the best.

I OWNED A INSIGHT TECHNOLOGY M-3 AND THE PERCUSSION OF THE .40 CAL KNOCKED THE LIGHT OUT SOMETIMES. I UPGRADED TO THIS LIGHT AND HAVE NOT HAD ANY TROUBLE FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS.

One on my Glock 21 and one on my AR. They are priced right and the LED w/ aluminum case is very reasonably priced. I'm a patrol guy so 9 times out of 10 I'm using these lights in close quarters and they throw off a nice white light which doesn't wash out clothing color differences etc. I have the red filter cap for the AR mounted light and find it works well for building searches. I picked up the tape switch too and it's great for momentary on/off on the vertical grip. It's not a light for all but I can't speak highly enough for my purposes. The $100-$110 is no longer accurate -I'm finding them for $70 from more than one website now.

I have been carrying this light for 8 yrs. I use on the street and in SWAT. It has never failed me, except for dreaded battery failure at critical time. Great Light!!

You can't beat this light for the price. For about $100.00 you have 80 lumens to light up your objective. Personally I like this light better than the newer TLR-2 w/ laser. The laser version seems to split the power unevenly toward the laser than to the tactical light. The TLR-1 keeps you focused on your fixed sights and doesn't affect the accuracy of the weapon. Now the cons; I have read that one out of 1,000 Glocks will experience a misfeed or malfunction at the range due to the added weight of the light on the muzzle of the weapon. I have not experienced this. But you can remedy this by replacing the magazine with one that has one more coil in the spring to increase the tension of the rounds. Like I said, I have not experienced this probelm. If your magazine has a rectangular looking window in the front of it you have the new generation of mags. Hope this helps.

We just got these issued to us end of last week. Not too sure about it yet. I think mainly because I dont want to have to buy a new holster to acomadate the light. The PD issued holsters to hold the light by itself on our belts but I cant imagine trying to fumble to get the light out of its holster, then on my gun (Glock 22) and then when I go hands on to cuff or something else I would need to holster my weapon for I would have to take the light off of the gun holster the light and then my gun. So I guess if Im going to use it I need to get a new holster so I can keep it on my gun.

I have had the TLR-2 on my GLock 22 for over a year. I like the ability to keep both hands on the weapon and get light where my eyes and weapon are pointed. There is nothing like simplicity with light and sights all in one, and this light is durable and lasts. The duty holsters are a pain. I'd still recommend this light hands downover using the flashlight with my weapon.

I finally decided to make use of the rails on my Glock and went out and bought the TLR-1 made by Streamlight and I am so happy that I did. If you are looking for a super bright tac light that is extremely affordable...look no further because this is the one! Thanks to Streamlight for continuing to make great products for LEOs and remembering that we are way underpaid! :)

Does it's job, puts out a lot of light especially where you need it...your target. Super easy to operate. The only downfall is the battery consumption and the price to replace those batteries.

We are issued this tactical light as part of our required duty equipment. It is mounted to a Sig P229 and holstered in a Safariland light capable holster. I am on my second light. The first broke during my last firearms qualification. The energy from the gun firing shattered the inside bulb and bulb components. In addition, the muzzle flash started to melt away at the plastic coating. I'm not sure if this affects the durability of the light, but it is something that Streamlight should address.

After getting through the FTO program, it took me a little while to save up for the light/ holster combo for my Glock 22. But now that I've used this light, I wouldn't go on duty without it. Makes building searched so much easier, not having to have one hand on a flashlight and one on the gun. Also, I've been using it on our 1400-2200 shift, and have yet to change the batteries after about 6 months.

I also have had the fortune, I guess, to have this light during Hurricane Ike. The light was totally submerged at one point. I cleaned it up a few days later, when things settled down and I had a chance to clean my pistol, and it was still working perfectly.

If you are looking for a good compact light for a patrol rifle, this is it. I have it mounted to my AR-15. Provides plenty of light out past 25 yards. Good little light for the price. There are larger ones out there, but I didn't want the added bulk to bang into things. Puts out a good white light.
