I use Hydra-Shoks in both my 9mm and my 45. They are extremely accurate and powerful. I would tell anyone to spend the money and try them.

This is my duty ammo. I love it's inherent stopping power. It can do so much more than back in the days of FMJ's.

This is the ammo that makes a 9mm a good weapon. On duty and off this is what I carry.

I have used Hydra-Shok JHP on Wild Boars. Usually 1 or 2 shots is all you need!
My biggest boar was 325 pounds. The bullet does not over penetrate, great performance!- Flag as inappropriate

Its an overall good round. I carry it in my Glock 22 .40. I used to care it in my Glock 17c 9mm and never had any problems with jamming. I stagger my mags with Extreme Shock Fang Face, Hydra-Shocks & Starfire ammo. As said before, not a round you want to shoot at the range. Pricey, but worth it.

Great all around ammunition. keeps most of its mass after penetration, much better then others on the market. Unlike CorBon, it is not so hot you have to shoot it to see how it handles in your gun.

Ever since I own a gun I always carry this kind of ammo it is great it shoot good, and good accuracy. I like using ammo that I don't have to waist my whole mag to stop the person. I saw a person get shot 5 time at one time, 3 with with a 9mm and 2 with .45. regular ammo And he still live and kicking

Our department has used this ammo with great success for the last 11 years. I have never had a double feed or stove pipe with this ammunition. Only two light strikes on the primer in the last 5 years. Only flaw is that it is more expensive than most hollow points on the market.

Great round, I carry this in my .45, 9mm, and .380 (back up) Retains mass, clean firing. Just make sure that your weapon is set up for it. I had to re polish my feed ramp to take it in the .45. After a re polish, never a feed issue.

Was carrying this ammo in 1991 when involved in shooting incident. 45 ACP, S&W 645, even though hit was not fatal it took the fight right out of the BG. Definitely a one shot stopper when placed well. Always reliable, feeds reliably, low muzzle flash, managable recoil.

One of the few places my department doesn't try to 'skimp' on 'low bid' gear is in ammo - They issue Federal Hydra Shok, a top of the line, dependable round. Thank goodness, or I'd have to buy it myself!

I witnessed a fellow Officer shoot a suspect at close range when the subject attacked him with a hammer. One round, dead center mass, (the attacker was a larege man) and the man fell immediately. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other great characteristic of this round is the fact that it does not travel great distances through walls. Stray rounds are always deadly but this round may be a little less deadly.

Before I retired I used .45 Federal Hydra-Shok JHP, and nothing else. I know the knock down power that it has, one round any where and the assaliant is on the floor. If you're going to do it right, do it right the first time.

I love these I keep my Kim-baby-.45 (kimber) loaded with these babies. We took them out and practiced on a goat (died of natural causes not lead poisioning). All I can say is that was the determining factor on what I carry for personal protection,

I've done a few ammo reviews, as well as ballistic gel/milk jug tests, with multiple different types of ammunition. If it's a bullet. I've probably fired it. That being said. For my personal protection, I prefer to use Federal Hydra-Shok in my 9 mm and my 45. The effects it has through denim, and into gelatin targets, speak for themselves. It doesn't over penetrate, and it doesn't under penetrate. I wanted to make absolutely certain (just like all types of defense ammo) That my weapon would successfully feed, and throw the bullet down-range. The accuracy and dependability of Hydra-Shok was out of this world. It expands flawlessly. Feeds flawlessly, and has just the right amount of penetration. What more could you ask for in a round?
