After considerable input from the law enforcement community, Taper International Inc. has designed and patented a totally new operating and locking mechanism. The new design addresses all the deficiencies of today's current handcuffs and restraints. The standard pawl and ratchet have been replaced with a unique and patented geared operating mechanism that is fully engaged with the swing arm at all times when the handcuff is either being opened or closed. The patented locking mechanism cannot be picked and uses a patented cylindrical key. All Gotcha handcuffs come with a G&G handcuff case. Gotcha handcuffs and restraints incorporate many new features such as a cam locking mechanism that locks and double locks restraint. Our handcuffs and leg irons key from both sides and the key shaft is easy to find at night or in very low visibility. The shape of the key shaft prevents it from being turned by needle nose pliers and the detent spring pressure prevents the handcuff from being unlocked through the use of an improvised key fashioned from a ballpoint pen. Gotcha restraints are the first and only patented geared handcuffs in the market. The locking gear, which is riveted in place, is always in contact with the swing arm and prevents Gotcha restraints from being picked or jimmied open. The stainless steel springs, gear locking pin, etc will not rust and the ergonomic shape better fits the suspect’s wrist. Gotcha handcuffs and leg irons are the smoothest operating restraints made because our geared design allows the use of an operating spring much smaller than the detent spring. FEATURES: 1. Stainless steel internal components, springs and rivets 2. Only handcuff to key from either side 3. Ergonomically designed 4. Smoothest operation of any handcuff made 5. Serial numbered & Lifetime warranty to registered users 6. Uses standard Belly Chains with Gotcha Lockbox 7. Quantity Discounts Available

These use a cylindrical key THAT CANNOT BE PURCHASED BY THE PUBLIC ONLINE. The cuffs can be unlocked from either side, thus increasing oficer safety when releasing restraints. They also use a new large, fully-closing ergonomic design that "fits" the wrist of the subject. This enables them to be used on prisoners with large wrists as well as preventing those with small wrists from "slipping" the cuffs wihile in transport.

Well dealing with the military issues us(S&W) these cuffs just look and sound better. the cylindrical key will increase officer safe due to what RCP was saying about the public not being able to get the. the opening on each sidemakes our life a little easierfor getting the cuffs off the subject and just incase you get put in the situation where you wind up in your own cuffs, easier access for you to get em back off. I'm big on hinged cuffs dont leave room for chains to fail.

Question, do they come with a chain. I have never liked the hinge design.

Apparently, Gotcha hasn't heard of the ASP handcuffs that KEY ON BOTH SIDES and cost considerably less. Admittedly, Gotcha has redesigned the handcuff's locking mechanism and changed the key. That must be awfully practical when transporting prisoners from several different officers to the local Lock-up/Holding facility! I alrerady have too many keys on my ring. I don't need to have multiple handcuff keys as well. and, quite frankly, unless the cuffs are made of titanium with gold inlay, where does Gotcha get off chanrging $50-$105 for cuffs or leg irons?

I'd rather buy a pair of Peerless and put the money saved towards ammo. You'll never be able to convince me that the price difference is worth it.
