Optimum capacity with minum size for the power and handling/carrying ability. Keep one in the house and one in your car. Rechargable unit's a plus. (110 a/c in-house or 12 volt dc auto chargers available).

I love it.. I own a bunch.. I sent one back with exploded batteries and they sent me a new one for free even though it was my fault... just for writing them a nice letter...
that... is customer service beyond....
Ive done everything with these... from hammering stuff to hammering people...

I agree w/ "bluestar" when I was in uniform I always carried the big light as well as a small one. Now that I'm in plain clothes I use the Streamlight Scorpion and Stingers. The original Mag-lights are by far the best.

Have owned one for quite some time. LOVE it. Just don't use rechargeable Nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries as the second they start to lose a little juice, they dim to about half the ordinary lumens INSTANTLY. This proves to be an incovenience when lighting is critical.

On and off duty I have always carried one of these. The 3 cell seems to be the perfect size for me. 4 cells are just too much to be slapping against my thigh in a chase. (ouch)
As they say.. " It shows them the light, and leaves a good impression" *chuckles*
I also keep one in the car, and in the house just in case.
They have all been dropped, and taken beatings.. but still work after years. Love the neoprene covers too. Nothing worse then touching one of these in cold weather then trying to write a report with cold hands..

This is a great tool for both on duty and off duty applications. On duty it serves to provide maximum lighting to illuminate dark areas or distract a suspect by shining in their face. The back end serves as a great knocking device on any style door, saving your knuckles from damage and providing a nice loud attention getting thud. Auto glass does not stand up well when the mag is applied correctly allowing access to vehicles and sometimes buildings when justified circumstances present themselves. The light is easily stored in the small of the back for nearly concealed carry, but easily retrieved for use as a striking tool or arm bar assist. Just remember that when striking, the same rules would apply as any other striking tool such as an expandable baton, pr24 or other authorized device.

Very awesome! I love mine. It worked great on all the incidents I've encountered.
One incident occurred while I was parking cars at the local fair. I had a car not paying attention and trying to continue on a straight path. That path had me in it. They continued on, and I was like HEY dude! He continued on so in order to get him to stop before hitting me, I chucked my mag @ his windshield. LOL...He was ticked but the deputy that handled it was like...next time driver you pay attention.

One word: indestructable. Thats why even though I run the gambit of high speed next best thing lights, this is still in my bag. I put an LED conversion in it about a year ago and it's still on the same batteries and is every bit of 80 lumens. For a $30 light you can get at wal-mart you cannot afford to not have one in your car.

I'll be honest. I used to carry the 4 D Cell maglite and 3 d cell, and I used to love it. Then i realized how heavy and uncomfortable it was making my duty belt. There are so many more options out there, and I highly suggest a compact and LIGHT flashlight for for duty use. Guys, if you want a baton, then buy a baton. The maglite is not your answer.

I had the regular bulb in the flaslight and changed to the LED and hated it. Yeah the batteries lasted longer but I could not see anything I definitely did not think the LED bulb was bright, I could barely see in tiinted windows now, and forget the distance could not see fifteen feet in front of me. I changed to the regular bulb and now i'm much happier.

Another awesome light source and great improvised weapon/baton. These things are virtually indestructible. This one has a slighly shorter battery life than the four cell counterpart, but lighter and shorter body more than make up for that when you're carrying it all day. I've had one of these things for about six years and it's never let me down.

I have 3 of these that I keep in my car. I carry the stinger on my belt but the maglites come in handy for everything from traffic control to "attitude adjustment"

This is the "tank" of flashlights. When all else fails, this one will be there for you. I can remember when these were considered "top of the line". When I was a young MP, you just had to have one. And, if push came to shove, it made a good baton!

As said, "a tank". LED's give them excellent battery life.

As with the 2 D-cell Mag, this is a good solid beginning. Good body, good switch, good size...but has to have the brightness modified by the owner.

As far as I'm concerned this is the very best light on the market for emergency personnel.

defenitely packing this maglite in my duffel bag, especially now that the dept. has added the maglite as means for defense against criminals.

Very wellmade flash light; very heavy as well and works great as a strickign object in the event you have it out and dont have time to get to your baton. The LED version is much brighter than stock and the added "bust-a-cap" tailcap window breaker is a must have for LE; you never know when you will need it; better to have it and not need it then need it nad not have it.
