By all outward appearances it appears to be a safe hlster. After using the holster for about a year, I had one of thos OH SHIT momments. When I needed the holsters most valuable retention properties (weapon properly seated in the holster) I discovered my Beretta .40 could be seated between layers of the holsters design.
The manufacturer describes it as soft inner pouch and a hard exoskelatal frame that supports the inner shell. I describe it as an accident waiting to happen.
I contacted Unkle Mike's regarding this, but their response was that they have sold so many thousands and have reveived no complaints, thanks for the call.
If one officer dicovered a potential problem or even worse, paid the ultimate sacrifice, would that make them sit up and take notice? Perhaps one officer already has. I recall hearing about an officer in the MidWest who was using this holster, was disarmed by the bad guy and shot to death. I remember reading that it was an Uncle Mikes Triple Retention Holster. They did state in the article that the holster model number did not correspond to his department issue holster. They also did not mention if weapon was secure in the holster.
