Shot one and keyholed at less that fire yards. I am glad I wasn't the one that paid money for it. POS in the first order. I wouldn't even trust itas a blunt instrument weapon.

Total junk. If your life is worth $150 than buy it, but it never shoot the gun because it has a tendency to actually blow up. Very top heavy, and difficult to aim (at least for me), and for another $150 you could go buy a S&W sigma which is a much better gun, and the one I use. Over all it is a piece of junk and is slightly more lethal than a thrown rock.

Well, since I can read, I can see you professionals don't like it. Well, if I was given your choice of weapon to pack (especially if I didn't have to pay for it), I'd pick something better too. Seriously, I've shot about a thousand rounds thru this one I have, and it hasn't given me any trouble yet. So, until a rock would do better, I'll keep this. We can't all drive Porches or Cadillacs.

my one whole star is because i made the mistake of owning it for my first gun, then i learned that it has jammed only once... while firing. but when i do a mag change, the slide jams on the first fresh round. im military so i know how to keep my guns clean and ready... but its difficult to field strip as i have yet to get that damn slide off. you gotta take a stupid pin out first and... its stupid. im sorry i bought it. DO NOT GET THIS AS A FIRST GUN!!!!!!!!! high-point sucks!!

This is a very inexspensive gun, the looks are awful. If you can get pasted that it is not a bad gun to just mess around with. The feel is not good either. The only thing it really has going for it is, that there is a life time warranty with a no questions asked replace on the weapon. If it breaks they repair it at no cost to you.

I like the fact that it is all American made and comes with a lifetime warranty. I haven’t heard of it blowing up when fired (outside this website) and I’m not doubting that that has happened, but I have heard of some other guns doing the same. I think for the person who just wants to shoot every once in a while it is a perfect gun; it’s cheap, cheap to shoot, and fun to shoot as well. Also, for $150 you can’t really expect to be getting a Glock. You get what you pay for, but for the money you can’t beat it.

Although no LEO's not Military utilizes this firearm. I currently own one and would never place another 9mm before it. After taking it to the range firing over 500 rounds through it, I never had one stoppage nor malfunction. And for the price it is unbeatable for home protection.

No rating but system is making me do it, so under duress I give it a grudging one star. Can not be deep cleaned and factory will tell you this. We tried and it fell apart in our hands. Sent it back to the factory and they said not to clean it beyond the barrel. This is a real cheaply made peice of CRAP !!! Never bet your life on this.......... thing!

There is a reason that only gang bangers and other trash have this gun. They don't know any better about putting the money into a weapon that you can depend on. You always need to ask the question " Will this weapon work when I need it to?". Your department has high standards for weapon selection for a reason. You should to!

if you only have $150 bucks to spend, this is it. Its clunky and has crap sights but is reliable. I hate the way it looks, but hey, its made to shoot not look at.

Sorry guys, have to disagree on this one. I am not LEO yet, but this was my first weapon. I got my 1911, and this one did take a back seat. my 1911 is just better balanced. My father has had the hp.45 for about 5 years and had a problem when it was first bought, they took it back and reworked the whole weapon at their expense. I've had mine for 3 years, and it still sits in my trunk in a case for back up issues, no gun is 100%. Devil's Advocate...I was on the range with my father at a military installation. Saw an M9 (Beretta 9MM) explode. Luckily the guy limp wristed it and the slide only hit him in the chest causing only minor injury. My buddy's Glock 40's slide shot off at the range once. Just be mindful of maintenance and it will serve you fine. Cheap to shoot at the range.

I will have to agree with most of you about this weapon being junk. I will never own one not even if it is given to me, but a friend let me shoot his .45 Hi-point and to my supprise it was pretty damn accurate at 25 yards. But yes it is a pain to disassemble and has a tedancy to jam among other things. So if you value your life, DON'T use this as a self defence weapon or anything other than a paper weight.

When it comes to firearms you absolutely get what you pay for. JUNK TRASH PAPERWEIGHT BOAT ANCHOR good for blowing your hand off and that's about it. Bad guys carry em cause they're cheap. I've taken one off a guy on duty. I hated to even handle the thing knowing their history.

I saw a guy take one and held it up and while holding it thrust it downward and the slide went back and locked! This thing was so loose you could actually get the slide to go back and lock just by jerking it, never touching the slide. I'm not shooting it.

I own a high point 45 and it has been the best hand gun I have ever held. I must give the high point a big praise. When my rifle jammed while bear hunting my 45 is what saved me from the charging bear.

I did a long review of this one here:
    http://sites.google.com/site/inbox485/Home/firearms/hi-point-c-9

To summarize, this is NOT a duty pistol. They often require a massive amount of tinkering before they function reliably, they are a horribly inefficient use of space and weight, and they are not very accurate which limits its useful distance. It has a few limited (law abiding) niches. Home defense for those who can't afford anything better, collectors who want one of every gun on the market, and people who want several copies of a gun to put in tackle boxes, car trunks, 72 kits, etc. I bought a pair so my wife and I could go plinking. They each have nearly 1K through them and are still working fine.

A piece of junk of the highest order. Unreliable, awkward to hold and shoot, very poor accuracy, bulky size, and unreliable again.

These guns are worse than EVERY modern handgun by EVERY measure. It is garbage new. It is worthless for every application. I would even say its unsafe.

Rated one star because I can't rate it 0.
