The choice of a firearm is very personal. The firearm should be easy to use so when the poop hits the fan you don't have to think too much. The firearm must feel right in your hand. Most gunfights are close quarters. If you can't hold the gun with comfort you have a problem. The firearm must be manufactured to a high standard for reliability and durability. This weapon fits my bill just right.

SMITH&WESSON MODEL 4566 IS A GREAT WEAPON , BUT THE REAR NOVAC SIGHTS ARE TERRIBLE . I COULD NOT GET USE TO THE KENTUCKY WINDAGE , DURING REQUALIFICATION . ALONG WITH THE PLASTIC GRIPS .THE 45 ACP CALIBER HAS AWSOME KNOCK DOWN POWER AT CLOSE RANGE . THE 4566 IS MY THIRD WEAPON OF CHOICE .

This is out standard Duty weapon, our Patrol LEO's carry the same but 9mm. I personally don't care much for this sidearm and use the various others that i have because my locks quite a bite.

The 4566 & 4506 were the first auto's that my old PD switched over to from wheel guns. We found them to be quite durable and reliable. We tested them in some very "off the wall ways", heck, the darn thing even shot underwater. And, for the "general populus" of the the department, the guns were sort of "stupid proof". Personally, just didn't care for the weight. After shooting a 1911, the S&W felt like a boat anchor.
