Your home is supposed to be your safe place. This guy is making sure that his is that way. Hopefully they won't try to charge him.

Bump, darsavmo. If you have to retreat in YOUR own home then where are you suppose to go??? Iowa does not have the Castle Doctrine law :(

Castle Doctrine should be a National Law. If you cannot feel safe and be secure in your own home with the absolute right to defend you and your family in your home, where can you be safe?

I hope no prosecutor will try to make a name for theirselves and try to bring charges...

NM apparently does not have a Castle Doctrine and you must retreat if at all possible. IMHO that is complete BS. One should have the complete right to defend oneself in one's own home from illegal entry and that includes using deadly force and it should not matter the method of defence either. It should not matter if you are using sewing needles or a 12 ga Shotgun, your hand or a block of C-4 explosive. Most States realize that one has this absolute right to safety in their homes, vehicles and place of business. To me this man is a hero in that he was able to fend off 4 grown men to save not only himself but his girlfriend/Fiancee and their small child with nothing more than his bare hands! He should be honored that he was willing to do this. He should not face any charges but those who tried to break in should all be charged with murder as there was a death involved in their criminal activity. That is a win-win situation!

Why should you even be asked to leave your own home if someone is breaking into it. You stand your ground and defend yourself, your family and your home; even if it means killing the SOB's that are coming in. The police spokesman must be a liberal azz kisser. There are so many words I want to say but this site will not let me post them. KUDOS to the home owner for taking care of buisness.

If I read this right they are going to charge the home owner for killing a man that broke into his residence. WOW
