If the uneducated officer had known/followed the law, there would be no grounds for a lawsuit. Suddenly it's the victims fault because a couple Keystone cops decide not to uphold their oath to the Constitution? Wow, some of you cops on here are absolutely clueless...

Just watched the video and am disgusted by the cops behavior. Thug in a uniform and a liar to boot. I also just called the Temple PD to let them know that they look like bullies and have given LE a bad name. The $2k fine is outrageous! Dare I guess that the cop dash cam video WAS NOT SHOWN to the jury?????

He LE, bone up on the Constitution, realize we are not your inferiors / subjects, do your job. That fat cop is lucky the veteran didn't shoot him down like a rabid arab dog. Just sayin.

Sounds like a guy with a grudge. He can't take on the Army and settles for taking on the police.

keep fighting, I hope that a jury with common sense will find you not guilty!! Why don't the cops stop people who are just walking down the street smoking a cigarette, check to make sure that they are not really smoking marijuana. If this guy was just walking down the road with a weapon and has a permit to do so, then leave him the uck alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The phrase the right to keep and bare arms shall not be infringed comes to mind!
The Uniteded states Constitution doesn't say anything about CCW permits!
When I started my Law enforcement career there was no legal concealed carry for the average citizen! Many officers I knew back then felt that Nobody but cops should carry guns!

From the comments under the article (the claims in this comment appear to stand up if you do a quick search around Google):

"Fatty McEagle Scout is not fighting for your gun rights.

He fights to fill his pockets with money

He has a history of running his own blog site, and then he takes his hidden cameras and sets up events like this. It is all about the law suit to make him rich.

He does not represent me as a gun owner, or a professional soldier.

He had a battle carbine slung around his shoulder, a pistol on his hip, was escorting his kid, and had the cops called on himself. When the cops showed up, he acted fruity, stated hollering about is rights, in an effort to get arrested so he could get his time on camera and start another law suit.

    This dude is a huckster"

This guy was being an idget and should have complied with the officer's request he or she (officer) alone determines what is a officer's safety issue. Bump Dwight and Pete, this guy is very lucky to be alive, period!

Kudos to the officer for maintaining his composure in dealing w/ a person with what appears to be a loaded M4 in public who thinks that when a police officer approaches to question him that the officer does not have the right to separate the firearm from him during questioning.

As for the military sgt, you were lucky that you and your son were not put face down on the ground at gunpoint after refusing to comply w/ the officer...

A permit to carry a handgun in Texas? Last I checked there was a Concealed Handgun License but no permits.
