Colin Powell is a great American. He was never really a true darling of the ultra conservative movement. People tend to confuse conservatives with normal everyday republicans. Two totally different animals. Just as democrats and liberals are different. Democrats such as JFK and heck even as close to (gulp) Bill Clinton are different than today's liberals in that you could actually negotiate with them. The liberals in charge of today's democrat party cannot be negotiated with as is being seen before our very eyes. People tend to forget about the three co-equal branches of government. 0potuscare was passed behind closed doors, without the supermajority needed in the senate by a democrat supermajority which included control of the presidency, house, and senate. A seperate control was introduced in 2010 by the sweep of house by republicans taking back the majority. Those republicans, largely conservatives, won because they campaigned specifically to repeal 0potuscare as an unfair burden to Taxpaying Americans. Now they are simply doing their jobs. The bill has been passed and entered into law, nothing can be done about that. It was even passed without being read and folks are ok with that. Personally I think that is irresponsible but that is my opinion. 0potus has now personally rewritten the law to allow exemptions on the personal mandate for his cronies and campaign contributors. That in itself should invalidate the law but some folks are ok with allowing corporations and the very people who passed this garbage to not have to abide by it. I call it the Marie Antoinette syndrome, "let them eat cake". Negative my friend, that does not fly. Dr. Ben Carson is also a great American whether or not he is white or black. He represents what we should all try and achieve. Largely poor growing up he made his American Dream happen not by being on the government dole as one of their zombies but through education, personal sacrifice, and achievement. He enjoys a large income based on what HE worked for and is understandably upset at having to fork over more of his personal income due to government intrusion. I liken it to going to school. If you achieve an A in a certain class because you worked hard and studied would you be willing to subsidize it to a C because a lazy person who didn't study got an F and determined "it wasn't fair"? I am pretty sure you would not. Redistribution of wealth, the mantra put on by 0potus, is simply socialism or communism where someone determines that the subjugation of some is being done for the good of all. That is not how this country has become as successful as it has nor can it continue. The path this country is on is unsustainable, and adding another social welfare program on the backs of Taxpaying Americans will drive us to the dustbin of history faster than the Soviets wanted to. Today there is an article in our local paper about the restructuring of the II MEF and the moving of their headquarters from Camp Lejeune NC to Norfolk, VA. this is due to a drawdown in the Marine Corps specifically to pre-911 levels. Corps commanders advised the SecDef the number of Marines required to operate successfully puts the number at 202000. SecDef ordered the number cut to 174000 due to budget concerns and constraints, so the Marines are once again having to do more with less. As we enter a new era of social programming and engineering through the advent of a new social program in which people below a certain level of income will be subsidized once again, what happens to organizations such as our armed forces when the debt becomes too great for the taxpayers to handle? Once the social programs begin to also suffer from lack of funding who will step up to handle the ensuing riots? We saw this happen all too recently as the USSR fell apart from the weight of wealth redistribution. Why in the world are we so eager to follow in their footsteps?
Ok I read it, a serious waste of my time! This guy needs to stick with his area of expertise, PERIOD!
I here ya, However, to compare the Affordable Care Act as worst than slavery, really slavery? That speaks volumes to me of those who would agree to that statement alone. AJS, my comment stands. We agree to disagree and your opinion matters to me! You have given perspectives that I would have never thought about and do you remember Colin Powell's fall from ultra conservative grace, hmm? I wonder why that happened.
Seriously Steven? House vs. field because.........he is a respected neurosurgeon who happens to disagree with 0potus? That to me speaks volumes. Whether he is black or white really doesn't matter, the label though does. I can see that coming from some in here (see the one agreeing with you) however I didn't see it coming from you.
By the way there are plenty of white people who disagree with the half white president, they just called racists by the loons on the left, go figure. I guess that is somewhat better than house vs. field though somehow.
BUMP SnHadley... bump bunp bump
Seriously, Folks maybe I'm just tired from busting my arse trying to learn ways to prevent another onslaught of and on our country's most precious resource and some of the folks that I truly respect give credibility to a Black guy because he is going against another half Black guy who happens to be President.
I will read it in it's entirety tomorrow, maybe! Rag me later, but one so called history buff who speaks the language of those who want to hear it because of his race. In my world, it's called House vs Field. For the true historians figure that one out!
I guess I'll always get the forty lashes, instead of the 40 acres and a mule. Oh, by the way I gave up on waiting for that a long time ago!
Thumbs up Dr. Carson.
Gcoleman, I saw the movie. My son did a project on it for one of his third grade classes a couple of years ago. Dr. Carson's story is a powerful one which is largely ignored by the media. He is truly inspirational.
I sure didn't want Obama care! The state OPERS pension board will be taking the healthcare plan away from my wife and kids after they promissed it to me twenty five years ago when i started my career!
Read Carsons book gifted hands great life story rags to riches> very credible
I did read the article. Ben Carson for president!!!
You are very right Max. I was diagnosed two years ago with a very rare disease. Not my words but the dozens of Dr.'s I have seen. There have been 200,00 cases worldwide. The average lifespan is 47. I am 45. I can't afford to lose my Dr. This isn't something I tell people regularly. It is inoperable and virtually untreatable.
People go on and on quoting the newspaper and television. There are real people involved. People who will have to live with the consequences of what our government does.
Thank you Bob. It's all the cops, soldiers, teachers, who sacrifice everyday who are the real hero's.
There will be a lot of people fighting to get a doctor's attention next year.
Read the article, and it's obvious Ben Carson knows history. Hooray for Dr. Carson. BTW, Kristine, I thought you were our hero .......
A man with a plan who, bring on the inside and directly effected by the govrrnment takeover of the medical profession/system would know. First hand too. I guess he'll be on the IRS radar, if not already
