"We're not going to be disrespected," Rep. Marlin Stutzman (R-Ind.) told The Washington Examiner. "We have to get something out of this. And I don't know what that even is."

"We have to get something out of this. And I don't
know what that even is..."
Instead of punishing American workers who don't have ANYTHING to do with this, how about the TeaPee'ers come up with an idea that might make them "feel respected" then. Respect begets Respect.
The GOPers are beginning to see that the majority of the American people doNOT want the GOP to shut down the government in order to try to hurt Obamacare. H3ll, Even a majority of those who don't like/understand or realize it's time to pay for Obamacare, oppose the hostage taking.
The Teaparty might as well start to spread cheeks and insert head b/c their plan of calling Affordable Act ObamaCare is backfiring now that Americans are sorting out the ACA for themselves b/c of the media mistrust. Are they 'outrage' over Medicare, SS and Disability, how'd that work out and why haven't then moved to another country yet ?
I've skimmed through the Constitution, and saw that it clearly states that in the US, contrary to a dictatorship, it's the democratically elected MAJORITY who dictates the law.
The ACA is a law not some negotiation, and as George Clooney put it, "If you want to change the law the get elected."
Anywho, imo, it now it's time for Boehner to grab a set and stop bowing to these absurd ego-centrists. Boehner/Reid should fact-check realistic polls and to search for common ground with the rest of the America people or continued to have this partisan government that hurts the ENTIRE country!.
Maybe, just Maybe, during the next elections, and moderate Republicans start voting systematically with moderate Dems, so that those who fund the GOP can see if the GOP start caving to extremists instead of taking their dang job of governing seriously, then they'll lose it!
I wasn't happy about the country being controlled by the richest 1 percent, but I really hate it being controlled by the dumbest 1 percent.— Andy Borowitz (@BorowitzReport) October 4, 2013

The Onion (Satire):
"WASHINGTON—Noting that the individuals in question may be extremely mentally disturbed or suffering from a serious psychological illness, the nation’s psychiatrists announced Wednesday that they are deeply concerned for the estimated 5 percent of Americans who were found in nationwide polls this week to approve of the U.S. Congress. “With numerous members of Congress refusing to negotiate an end to the shutdown in the face of widespread federal furloughs and a looming deadline to avoid defaulting on government debt, we are extremely concerned for the mental health of those Americans who responded, ‘Yes, we think Congress is doing a good job,’” psychiatrist Dr. Donald Levin said in a press conference this morning, telling reporters that the estimated 15.5 million Americans who approve of Congress are likely “very troubled” citizens who may in fact be experiencing psychotic episodes or delusional thoughts. “We’re not entirely sure who these people are or where they come from—perhaps they are psych ward patients, or unstable recluses living in remote huts on the outskirts of society—but what we do know is that they are extremely disconnected from reality and in need of immediate attention if they are not already receiving it. We need to find these people and get them the help they need before their illnesses get worse.” Psychiatrists added that because a number of mental health services are currently furloughed, many respondents would just have to “sit tight and hang in there” until the shutdown is resolved."
Borowitz Report (Satire):
"WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—In an escalation of the stalemate gripping Washington, House Republicans voted today to shut down the prefrontal cortex, the part of the brain that controls reasoning and impulses.
The resolution, which passed with heavy Tea Party support, calls for a partial shutdown of the brain, leaving the medulla and cerebellum, sometimes referred to as the “reptilian brain,” up and running.
The Tea Party caucus cheered the passage of the bill, which was sponsored by Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, who called the measure “long overdue.”
House Speaker John Boehner (R., Ohio) offered no timetable for restarting the prefrontal cortex, telling reporters, “It will most certainly remain shut down during any negotiations with the President. That’s the only leverage we have.”
Representative Bachmann agreed: “The President can go ahead and put a gun to our heads. There’s nothing there.”
While the G.O.P.’s decision to shut down the prefrontal cortex rattled Wall Street, the neuroscientist Davis Logsdon said it should be seen as little more than a symbolic vote, noting, “It’s actually been shut down since the 2008 election.”"
The Coast Guard Air Station Opa-Locka (Miami), has to deny retirees and other non-active duty personnel the pleasure and honor to share a meal in their galley with active duty and retired military personnel of all services due to the government shut down. I occasionally eat there with other LEO's, retirees and my family.
The warrior in question stated that there were only three military personnel in the galley to feed the active duty personnel and that all the civilian workers have been furloughed. Many of whom have become good friends.
Thank God that Galley personnel did not turn me and my family away tonight for dinner. The service member's exact words were "You are here, and that would be totally rude on my part to turn you away" So as not to get that warrior in trouble my family and I took our meals to go!
It really is sad when you personally know those who are suffering from this shameful act of shameless politicians!!!!!!!!!!!
