The comments under the article are more entertaining/informative than the article itself.
As a former soldier myself, I'd be interested to see exactly what kind of troops field tested this. The unit I saw looked like REMFs. If you want a real test of the fabric you go to combat troops. And what about breathability in the fabric. It's all well and good to repel dirt and water but if it acts as a wind break too, then you are looking at heat injuries going way up. Of course a general never has to worry about these things as he sits in an air conditioned trailer miles behind the front.
Wasted tax dollars! And wait until all the allergic reactions and cancer starts. Who thinks of this stuff... a general no less.
