I agree with ajs on parts of his last comment--where he touches on where your priorities should be. I don't agree with his characterization of Biden's phrasing--of course, I've already made that perfectly clear.
I'm looking at it through a human perspective. I watched the entirety of his remarks and it seemed to me they were full of praises for law enforcement and their families and in particular Sean Collier's. When I saw someone clipped out 38 seconds in order to nitpick about three words he said ("All kidding aside"), I was floored. In context, it's clear that the placement of those words was somewhat awkward, but in NO WAY DISRESPECTFUL. Out of context, it gives fodder for desperate people who have nothing better to do than to tear someone down who has largely been a friend to LE, but just happens to be a member of the Democratic party. Personally, I think this is a much greater offense than even the perceived offense he may or may not have committed. You really ought to be focusing on the comfort of the families and friends of Sean Collier instead of using this opportunity to take a jab at a political figure that you disagree with.
Might be nice to take a look at it from the side of law enforcement instead of through a political prism. This was a memorial service for one of our own not a campaign stop. What that idiot said was stupid pure and simple. No need for it at the funeral of a slain police officer shot in the head by some cowardly punk. Personally I do not disagree with what he said just where he decided to let his mouth loose at. There are things in this world that are still sacred and this officer's sacrifice should have had the opportunity to be honored respectfully instead of drawing this kind of negative attention into it. It is ok to look at some of the things this administration does or says and wince every once in a while you know.
An entirely different discussion, Robo. Right here I'm supporting the facts, period. I dislike this manipulation of out of context clips to project a particular impression. It's as simple as that. The Weekly Standard, et al need to stop resorting to "creative journalism"--and that's nicest way of putting it.
mz66, just keep supporting this corrupt and shamefully disgusting Administration. You seriously need to open your eyes and look at everything that this administration has done in the last 5 years to this country.
I'm not backing down, fellas. I suggest you check out the link I posted below earlier in the comments.
...and he did all of that...which you'd know if you actually wanted to know...
You know what is REALLY shameful? All of you so eagerly taking a 38 second clip at a memorial and making political hay out of it without bothering to check out the facts.
Seriously, maybe the VP should act accordingly at the memorial of a fallen hero and not make ny jokes, but act presediantial and offer praise and support to his family...
...but go ahead...keep on yapping away on a 38 second out of context statement.
If you watched the whole 24 minute speech then you'd know it wasn't disrespectful.
If you are a close personal friend then a joke 38 seconds or three minutes is acceptable, but a guest that would have known him from Adam or wouldn't even have acknowledged his existence if he had provided security an some event for him, is beyond bad manners. He only got to speak because of the "office" he holds and no other reason whatsoever.
Again: non-story. If you can't be bothered to see the full remarks in context, your comment is irrelevant. Seriously :)
Well, HEY, we already knew this administration was a lot more anti-Law Enforcement than any other for a long, long time. Bidem? Almost as bad a joke as Obamma himself. Meanwhile, my prayers for recovery are with Officer Collier's family and friends. Rest in Peace, Officer Collier; Job Well Done.
Not the appropriate time for stupid comments.
Not surprising coming from the Barnum & Bailey admin.
When you play the whole quote in context (linked below in my comment), his comments are wholly appropriate. Open your eyes, children.
