I agree it does occur more often than most think, but I do not for a minute think that typically entails just Corrections/ Sheriff's Deputy's. Like I stated corruption can and has run in all facets of Law Enforcement since as far back as a "police" otder has been in existence. I will however say CO's and SD's are at a greater risk for being "compromised" due to the nature and environment of where they work, and all found guilty should be dealt with, as such. The badge never should be respected, and not used as a,means of "how" they are dealt with.
Probably occurs more than you think...
Criminal behavior is always a problem and when it's in a uniform with a badge, it's even worse. Most police/corrections agencies include psychological screenings in their hiring process but there is no way to weed out all undesirable candidates.
Nothing worse than when the ones entrusted to uphold the law, manipulate it using their authority. Unfortunately isn't the 1st case and certainly won't be the last. Look at some of the stories over the last century involving some of the large agencies in say, Colorado alone for exanple. Sickening!
