Besides the obvious of sufficient Probable Cause, I'm more concerned about the above stating "without" a warrant. Does Kansas LE routinely raid people's homes w/o search warrants let alone probable cause?
I hope there is more to this story that is not being reported...
What I'd like to know is how this department acquired the information on a private citizen's purchases in the first place.
I read the complete story in our local paper. The money from the law suit should more than supplement their retirement. I would hate to be the one that called the shots on this one.
WHOOPS! This nameless Kansas PD just SWATTED itself in an embarrassing goof-up over a not-so-little requirement called PROBABLE CAUSE.
Someone has a bunch of explaining to do! A check will be written to these folks!
