No, I believe he made the purchases for himself and lied to keep from looking foolish. Either way, we agree, he is a liar. If he did as you say, he lied on the form he filled out to make the purchase, and arguable committed a felony.

I don't see eliminating loopholes in the background check system to be "creating new laws" in the sense that you're asserting. Yes, new legislation will be required to plug the loopholes, but it's more like fixing a broken law rather than creating a new one.

So--are we now agreed that he was making a point (whether you agree with the point or not) rather than making up a story or were we just supposed to let you gloss over that without notice?

"(Just did a quick skimming of the comments on his post. Some nitwit is trying to say Kelly's breaking the law by "strawbuying" for the Tucson PD. What a freakin' joke!)"

Interesting point. Let's enforce the current laws before creating new ones !!!!!!!

IMHO, It appears, and the vibe I've gotten from him for over a year now, is that he doesn't at all advocate irradiating guns from the law abiding. Captain Mark seems to have a problem with {unsavory or mentally challenged and felons} having access to multiple clips and more importantly manipulating the gun show loop hole. He's clearly NOT going after the law abiding, I tend NOT to believe everything media (which is a business) dishes out and I think for myself.

I stand in support CMK's assertion %110 that these two issues need to be critiqued and tweaked before the Lanza's, Loughners and the like get to shooting up a bunch of innocent people. Just my .02

Captain Mark Kelly's FB page. Picture electronically dated for March 8th 2013, before story broke. Here's the link: https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/529824_474203615968235_...

FYI: Although you can edit comments after posting them on FB, you cannot edit an original post--you can only delete them. (Just to nip in the bud any speculation along those lines.)

From the FB page if you can't get to it for any reason--note the time and date stamp.

    "Captain Mark Kelly
    Friday, March 8 at 2:10pm

Looks like the judiciary committee will vote on background checks next week. I just had a background check a few days ago when I went to my local gun store to buy a 45. As I was leaving, I noticed a used AR-15. Bought that too. Even to buy an assault weapon, the background check only takes a matter of minutes. I don't have possession yet but I'll be turning it over to the Tucson PD when I do. Scary to think of people buying guns like these without a background check at a gun show or the Internet. We really need to close the gun show and private seller loop hole."

Since I've followed the events of Captain Mark Kelly(Orig. from NJ)/Gifford somewhat, I will agree to disagree mmmm.

So, the theory is this..........Captain Mark Kelly all of a sudden had an urge to buy an assault weapon one day possibly in a plot to concoct a mass murder of Jared Loughners multiple personalities. Even though the owners of the store recognized him by his looks and license, he thought he could slip this by us and the media zoo just waiting for a non story.

Idunno, see, that's how it plays out in my head. Logical or merely conjecture? Maybe, the conclusion lies somewhere in what you believe and I do , but for me, I take Captain Kelly at his word and I'll disregard the slanted media blow hards on the the right and left.

Call you a name mmmm? No way, I like you Besides!, I'm a lover not a fighter :P

If you can prove the order of operations as you state, please do--but as far as I know this whole hub-bub started when Mark Kelly posted a picture of himself on Facebook. Here's a NY Daily News link with the photo included:
