S_O.........they do not distinguish between "good" and "bad" people here. The only thing seen by this agenda is that we are all the same, all "bad". The AR15 is quite possibly the most reliable, most accurate weapons platform currently available to law enforcement and the public. It is certainly more accurate than a handgun especially at distance and not as easily concealable as another common killer the butcher knife. Why so many people are frightened out of their minds at the thought of Americans exercising their constitutional rights is beyond me other than the fact that they wish to control every single facet of our lives. Yes an AR platform can be used for hunting, yes an AR platform can be used for sniping....the same as a 30-30 but people don't seem as concerned about those. This push to ban "assault rifles" is absurd on its face. How do you define assault rifle or assault weapon? Any rifle or anything can be used to assault somebody somewhere. Are we to ban toilet paper? I can assault you with it by throwing a roll at your head. How about paper clips? They can put your eye out at short range. The gist of this rant is; stay out of our lives. As Americans there are certain rights we are afforded. This is not (yet) a nanny state. That experiment was tried (and failed) in Asia in a country formerly known as the USSR. You cannot mandate nor regulate society into a perfect mold as long as two human beings live with differing opinions. We are not perfect however we are free and personally I like being free. Stop trying to regulate freedom loving Americans into some kind of commie utopia, it will not work.

Well, no worries. AR's are still available, no ammo restrictions so you don't have to reload when your shooting at wabbits and BGC's are still pretty loose so that mentals still have their right to buy bushmasters.

Now we're safe from tyranny, zombies, holocaust and the invisible thug hiding under our bed everyday jus' wait'n ta getcha.

How silly, the death of innocent people are simply the cost of doing busine$$, right?

His AR purchase was denied by the dealer who saw this to be exactly what Kelly intended it to be, a publicity stunt. Doesn't really matter, a good background check resulted in an initially positive purchase result. What is funny to me about this discussion is this, liberals defending Kelly's second amendment rights. That's irony right there. Pretty funny too when you look at it. Please keep making the case for us!

Figures. Honestly, it doesn't matter how many bogus stories boneheads swallow whole and then are called out on, they will continue to readily and eagerly share any BS story that comes their way.

Well well well, would you look at this. It took me under a minute to find why Breibert's article was pulled. They published another article, and if you read the article in it's entirety, they mention the photo was taken a year before she was shot. Not that I would care b/c to me her husband is probably the epitome of a responsible gun owner, just trying to keep it honest, ya know?

Link to the (NEW) Breibert story, lol-smh http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/03/14/Mark-Kelly-s-AR-...

Cakedep1, Breitbart must have pulled the article-Code 404 page not found. It was probably a conspiracy behind it, I think you should look into that!
Also, you submitted a link with Gifford holding a rifle, and your power suggesting that's the 'evil rifle' just purchased by her husband in an attempt to vilify her and her husband and call them hypocrites.

Maybe it's me, but to me It's more then obvious that the picture of Gabby Gifford posing with the 'evil assault rifle',as you put it, is not at all recent or the assault rifle her husband Captain Mark Kelly Purchased.

For one, you can tell by Gabby's body language and hair, that this was something they owned prior to her being shot.
Secondly, the rifle that CMK purchased, has been on 'hold'.
Thirdly, even given the mental condition this crime victim (Giffords) is in now, I would trust her with an assault rifle before a would trust a bunch of lunatic conspiracy theorists building bunkers and similar persons in need of xanax like the 'preppers' (Adam Lanza's Mom, and the Guy that snatched the kid in the Bunker) prepping for the New World Order.

Enclosed is a link to the latest shot in this the Kelly/Gifford firearms drama showing Mr. Kellys wife Gabby posing with the evil assault rifle and its high capacity magazine. Mr. Kelly has the right to do what he wants with his money!

Beowulf: Now there's an opinion I can respect--based on actual facts. I may not agree with the conclusions, but at least you don't feel the need to resort to fabrication, wild speculation, or poorly researched disingenuous, not to mention disgusting comparisons. Others would do well to follow your example.

Was he breaking the law? No. Exercising his Constitutional rights? Yes. Babbling idiot? No, in fact a very intelligent individual. Motives? OH HECK YES! Started advocacy group for the background checks and loopholes (kind of the same as Mayor Bloomberg) so he goes to Arizona to show how easy it is to purchase a handgun AND a military styled weapon (same as Bloomberg sending his police officers to Arizona a few year ago to do the same thing. . . . .and they also got caught with their hands in the cookie jar). There is no question that this was planned to put together an argument to support their agenda for more gun control. He (like Bloomberg) got too hasty with the information and didn't get their argument squared away before showing the world how little honor this man has. . . . .in fact, it's absolutely none. He threw that all away with this grandstanding. A shame that an upstanding individual such as Mr. Kelly is willing to sacrifice his honor and community standing for shameless grandstanding.

SO typical. Remember, Mayor Boomburg of NYC is protected by heavily-armed bodyguards. This gunbrabber bought an "ASSAULT WEAPON"? Right. Now we GOTTA ban this stuff. I do not trust this guy nor his wife. Remember how "registration" works. Adolf Hitler used it, and got great results, as any Holocaust survivor can tell you.

Publicity Stund gone bad for Gifford. It's amazing that he was complaining about being sold a gun. He (supposedly) is a legal citizen of the United States of American. Maybe there should be a law against people buying guns for publicity stunts instead of legitimate reasons.

    You are absolutely right ajsdaddyCCSO:

First comes vilification, then comes registration, next follows confiscation. If you don't believe me ask the citizens of England and Australia.

I don't understand why there is so much controversy surrounding this. The guy's background was clean hence an easy purchase. If there were any red flags then the purchase would have been stopped.
Policing is as old as society. The first police were just people who were empowered by their neighbors to keep the peace. Occasionally LEO's do need the help of the citizenry. Why is the left attempting to take away the right of ordinary Americans to utilize one of ther constitutional rights? How do you define an assault weapon? How I defend my family and my home from those who would try to harm us is my business. If I as an American have a clean background and can make a purchase for a weapon which will be able to kill at a range longer than up close and personal then why not? Pistols are great however outside of about 40 yards become rather naccurate. I am VERY accurate with an AR/M-4 type weapon at 100 yards plus. Gives the family room to breathe. The people the government needs to concentrate on are folks like felons, psychiatric patients, etc. Leave law-abiding American citizens alone and keep your collective noses out of our business.

I haven't seen the form, as filled out by Captain Kelly or otherwise, so I cannot agree nor disagree. But what is clear as day is that you had your facts wrong. He broke the story himself and others followed up and twisted it up into a pretzel for their own purposes--and you, a seemingly rational person, embrace the farce. I can only assume you do so deliberately and with some malice towards Captain Kelly.
