What is the defense attorney thinking???? Officers are on duty during there whole shift, even if they are talking to someone, eating a meal, patroling, making a traffic stop, making an arrest, or talking to an off duty officer..How does the defense attorney know it was not about police business???? The Judge made a good ruling... The man should get 99 years for each Officer killed .....

The second man killed was an off-duty officer. There were only 5 officers, including the chief, in this department. The AK State Troopers went to Hoonah to police the town til things could be figured it, and to talk Marvin out of his for nearly 36 hours. The community was in shock. All praise to the AK Troopers who went in to help. Both officers were gunned down in front of their families. Tony had his mother in visiting from New Jersay and was doing a ride-along. Matt had just left his his parents home for dinner with his wife and 2 small children. Matt told his wife to take off and leave him. He was in fear for his family. Tony was shot in the back. His mother used the radio to scream "Officers down!!" Matt died on the island, Tony died in surgery in Juneau. They were both laying next to each other as one of them died. It's tragic. Just tragic for a small, isolated community where everyone knew Tony and Matt. They were both in charge of hunting down and killing rogue bears, both black and grizzlies, that would wander into town. The fact is, everyone carries a gun with them because of the bear problem. Anywhere from 6-8 come into town before they hibernate. Tony was only a handful of LEO's that was legally deaf, but wanted to prove that he could still do the job despite his handicap. My daughter's and ex were devastated. My daughter called me hysterically screaming. I couldn't understand a word she was saying. I got a hold of my ex-brother-in-law to find out if he could understand her. My ex, and our two daughters were like family to Tony. Tony had no dad and looked at my ex as a Father figure. My daughters thought of him as their brother. To this day his fb wall is still up. Anthony Wallace was 32 years old. Matt was 38. They died together as brothers in blue.

This has been ongoing since 2010. The wheels of justice move so slowly it's disgusting. Mr. Marvin looks pretty good in his pic, too. Prison food must be agreeing with him. *sarcasm*

Hope he rots in jail for murdering 2 Hoonah, AK officers in cold blood. Let him get buried on the prison grounds in an unmarked grave like all the other ones. His attorney is an &sshole for trying to reopen the case. The judge nailed it right on the head. Justice has been served.

Good for the judge for denying a new trial. The man was found guilty of murdering two people one an on duty officer and the other an off duty officer. I have always believed that if an officer is in uniform, on the clock and in a patrol car he or she was engaged in official police duty. For the defense attorney to question this was stupid in my opinion. Just because he saw a friend and stopped to talk to him doesn't mean he wasn't on official police duty hasn't that defense attorney ever heard of community policing.
